Chateau Ste. Michelle

Columbia Valley Riesling 2013

Sweetly yellow, kaleidoscopicly citrus, meant to be served on The Calypso before a dive in search of lost doubloons. Out of the corner of your eye, you see yourself in a mirror and think you're wearing a small black touque and a silver beard. — 9 years ago

Hanzell Selection Estate Wine Club Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2012

Lovely full body tropical flavors kiwi, pineapple; ripe peach, and guava. Moderate oak finish rounds it out on an extended finish. Great choice for snacks while enjoying the view over Mirror Lake. — 10 years ago

Diamond Creek Vineyards

Volcanic Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

A mirror of its terroir, this Diamond Creek is multi-layered, super packed and multi dimensional. Still tight, it boasts lots of mature red fruit, borderline jammy but melted with a beautiful meaty, savory core. Powerful and intense, this is serious. I would have it with a short-rib and Angus Burger, truffle mayo and smoked provolone. — 10 years ago

Albert Grivault

Meursault Chardonnay

2009 vintage Grivaut Meursault. Lemon curd, mushroom/cheesy/funk with a long aftertaste of sweet peach/vanilla/french oakiness. Great chardonnay for $28. An old world mirror image to Newton's unfiltered chard but with more funk and at half the price. — 11 years ago

Maybach Family Vineyards

Materium Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

The maybach wines mirror my high praise for Peter Michael. Both are at the top of my list of California wines. This isn't something you'd drink everyday unless you want to spoil yourself. It's special, & pairs well with a meal equatable to a full bodied Cab. — 11 years ago

The Guilty Shiraz

Bursting with ripe fruit, cherry, blackberry, vanilla, and strawberry aromas. Flavors mirror the aroma with rich, thick, smooth juicy flavors on the palate. Very long smooth finish. An excellent $20 Shiraz. Tasted 2013 vintage in January 2016. — 9 years ago

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

Notes mirror the btl I had last year with a nose of black and red fruits, Dr Pepper, cedar, leather, earth and tobacco. Plum fruits and spice on the mouth, showing medium weight and length with supple tannins. — 10 years ago

Domaine de la Chevalerie

Bretêche Cabernet Franc 2010

Based on a quick taste after bottle open for a day: serious with present but nice tannins...a savory and full wine! Not as aromatic as I might have expected. Would mirror ratatouille wonderfully. — 10 years ago

Cuvelier Los Andes

Colección Malbec Blend 2009

Dark and intense in color with a vibrant purple rim. Scents of black pepper, bell pepper, fresh pencil shavings, currant, dark sour fruits; plums an dark cherries. Flavors mirror the scent with black currant being in the forefront. Amply tannic, almost chewy and vibrant acidity. Well balanced and goes well with what all Argentinian wines go well with.......beef!!! — 12 years ago
