Monthly 4th Friday is post Thanksgiving this year, so lots of Thanksgiving style wines!

Tight on the nose. A flavor punch of raspberries and blackberries dipped in maple bark. Very herbal and savory on the palate with acidity that is surprising for its age (in a good way). It actually tasted like a young, fruit forward CdP with black pepper, dates, and ripe blackberries. Drinking really well right now. Thanks

Black Monterey County Pinot Noir 2014

Dry and Smokie. Has subtle black licorice like flavor (plumb, blackberries, mocha and vanilla). Did I mention this wine is dry... In a good way. — 9 years ago

Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

Very drinkable, but quite hot. Relatively straightforward but a very good, intense expression of Kentucky bourbon. Congrats to #18 on a well-deserved victory. — 9 years ago

Lachini Black Love Pinot Noir 2016

The Megan Anne Cellars ‘Black Love’ Pinot Noir is a barrel selection wine sourced from both the Lachini and Nysa Vineyards. The wine saw some extensive oak treatment (16 months 60% new French oak) prior to bottling. There are lighter oaky tones on the nose that connect with dark fruits and tobacco leaf with damp earth. The palate shows good weight and freshness with black tea, blood orange, peat moss and cherry vanilla flavors. I really love the range here. While this is drinking marvelously now, the wine will cellar well for a decade or more. Drink 2018-2030- 93 — 6 years ago

Les Fouchardes Anjou Chenin Blanc 2014

My first time trying this wine. A honeyed nose conveys a sense of sweetness. The wine is not sweet, but it does have a certain sappy mouth coating quality. Need to taste again — 7 years ago

Long Haul Red Mountain Merlot Blend 2012

2012 vintage. Wow...now this is a serious wine. Deep in dark fruit and terrior flavors and a fair share of tannins. This was pure heaven with a barbequed rib eye steak. Another of those wines that I keep on the shelf because they are bound to be wonderful when opened but I want to keep them as long as possible for slight aging. But I never buy enough soon enough before the sell out. Mark Ryan makes seriously wonderful wines and this is surely one of them. — 9 years ago

Les Chaffots Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

I have been following this wine for years! This is the best wine Mark Haisma makes. This is so rich in flavor it blows your mind. Ok back to the basics. Almost no nose slight dark cherry. Very brought shouldered big wine masculine. Blackberry mulberry sage cappuccino? This is a pricy bugger!
120$ Still I would buy it and put some bottles away.

2012. This wine is crazy ambitious. It hits the mark in some ways: (oak usage, noble reduction, pristinely ripe fruit) but misses it in others (soft acid, diacetyl, and just a general chubby feeling). I get that they're trying to make an American Montrachet, and it certainly tastes expensive, but I just don't think California's going to let them do it. I just don't think you can get enough phenolic ripeness while maintaining acid and alcohol in this part of California. I fully respect the effort and thrust of the wine, but I can think of a few other ways I'd rather spend my money. Would be really interested to try it in a really cool vintage like '11 or '98. — 10 years ago

What about the Hyde de Villaine chards? I thought the 01 and 02 had ripping acidity but I don't have context to compare to Montrachet.
