2017, Quintonil, fruity, dry, low tannins, cherry, light — 5 years ago
The fruit used to make this wine comes from a single estate, “finca”, in higher elevation Los Arboles, Uco Valley. All manually harvested and aged in American and French oak for 12 months. Valley fruit draws out the iris, sage, peppercorns and “green” notes of Malbec. Tannins are chewy. You are getting a lot of wine for practically nothing. Definitely speaks to its terrior with tons of minerality. This truly gives you a sense of place in the glass. Bracing acidity lifts the chocolate, sweet tobacco, coconut, and dill from the American oak, but black and blue fruit stay fresh and integrated.

Vino rojo-purpura con destellos violetas muy brillantes, en nariz resalta la ciruela negra antes de ser pasa y los frutos rojos, la pimienta, el romero, detectó cardamomo, hierbabuena y un poco de tostado, en boca muy aterciopelado (casi cosquilloso), taninos medios y chocolate negro (de los finos) y un final largo. Colour: quite opaque, but not completely; dark red-violet
Nose: very concentrated flavours; on the fruit side, ripe black fruit (ripe plums, black berries), then black olives, grass, black pepper; very concentrated, rich, bold but still very elegant and classy. Quite
spicy: salty, black olives, pepper, tobacco. Quite evident note of violet.
Palate: Medium to full in body, fine tannins – good structure overall, and nice acidity to balance all flavours. Warm and spicy, red and black fruit, plums, figs, violet. Good astringency. Elegant but not too bold.
