Smooth and silky. Great flavor. Really enjoyed this wine. With Matt and Hannah!! — 6 years ago
Inky purple in the glass with aromas of blueberry, plum, savory bacon fat, black licorice, and spices. 3% Viognier adds some floral lift. Full bodied and juicy on the palate with nice structure. Made by Matt Dees and barrel aged in French oak which is only 30% new. Although not as powerful as the ‘13, it shows a bit more finesse. 14.5% alcohol. $60. — 7 years ago
Terrific wine from Matt Trevisan, the 2009 Sticks and Stones is grenache-driven with a lot of mourvedre and a touch of syrah. Very elegant on the palate - probably is peaking now so I wouldn't recommend holding onto it much longer - but a great example of a mid-level Rhone-style blend from Paso. — 7 years ago

Pretty damn good, Matt. Sorry for your loss and here's to you and your family! — 9 years ago
Killer! Thanks @Matt Ryan — 9 years ago
Very forward does not remind me that much of the last time I had a Caymus SS (which was vintages from the 90s). Cherry and French vanilla, very easy to drink right now. Went well with the lamb I had. Thanks to Matt for bring this and the Astralis to dinner. Was worth the corkage. — 9 years ago

14’ Arista UV-EL Diablo Vineyard Chardonnay. Old world!?! Burgundian style!?! Needs another year or more!!
Rich & layered. White flowers, white peach, fig, minerality. Light on its feet. Very well-made Chardonnay.
Matt Courtney winemaker, somebody I enjoy following. Matt started up Ferren wines a few years back. EDIT- Your worst fears... last glass was better then the first. WAIT until 2020/21.
He also had an 8/10 year apprenticeship with Helen Turley at Marcassin. — 6 years ago
Big and rich, but strangely light on the palette. Lovely. — 6 years ago
@Matt Courtney is a great friend so no score. But this 2014 is a deal ringer for PYCM added a bit more opulence of CA. Flinty, noble sulfides , warm cinnamon pear tart, spearmint, hints of barrel toast. Always a pleasure to drink!!! Great wine Matt. Get on this list before it's too late. Don't say I didn't tell you. — 7 years ago
Full bodied and strong finish. All kinds of tobacco and vanilla with an oaky touch. Nice back tannin touch. Sushi night just got better! — 9 years ago

Classic (maybe somewhat over the top) zin-driven wine from Paso. The wine clocks in at 16%, but if you cool it down a few degrees it comes into focus. Intense berry flavor (particularly given its age), this has nice complexity on the palate thanks to Matt Trevisan’s skill at blending. Not sure how much longer this will evolve...but I see no reason to wait any longer for this one. Drink up! — 5 years ago
