Ebullient and certainly not lacking in verve, the 2012 Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2012 is a testament to what cool climate viticulture in Carneros and the Sonoma and Marin coastal AVAs can achieve. As with the other Schramsberg sparkling wines I've sampled, this lovely rosé manages to be delicate and focused with pretty overtones of sweet cherries, raspberry brûlée, nougatine and mandarin orange. The mousse quite fine, with bright and brisk acidity bolstering pomelo and crushed shell notes at the close. Sample — 10 years ago

This wine reminds me distinctly of a Muscat my grandfather produced in 2010; and the color is the first indication. Obvious extended skin contact, but low enough extraction to reach a lite-honey color. The nose is pungent and intense with tangerine skin wrapped in wild, homemade perfumes. The mouthfeel is giving yet tense, with slightly underripe mandarin orange and a twist of lime. Interesting wine. Authentic wine. — 12 years ago

Very fine mousse with a nose of mandarin orange, strawberry, a tad stirred lees, and a high floral note. The pleasant medium body is slightly creamy. I will definitely buy a few bottles as a house bubbly to please a crowd! This was a good starter for New Year's Eve. — 10 years ago
