40 year old Bordeaux still in aber good shape, nose with a lot of red and dark fruits and leather, medium body little hold back but good drinking flow, good medium long finish — 4 years ago

I tasted the 1982 Lynch-Bages twice within a month, both at a private dinner in London and at the château, from bottle and double-magnum on separate occasions. Both vindicate an exceptionally fine 1982, perhaps a bit overlooked in a vintage full of stars. Curiously, the bottle in Bordeaux does not fully deliver the mesmerizing freshness and energy compared to the bottle in London: pencil-lead-tinged black fruit intermixed with clove and freshly-rolled tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, perhaps just a little austere compared to its peers. Yet, indeed, the bottle in London exudes class and composure with a detailed, mineral-driven vintage belying that year's unseasonably warm period. Superb. Tasted both in London at a private dinner and at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2023) — 2 years ago
Lovely aged classic claret. Perfect Christmas drink. Angels singing, upon a midnight, the stars in the bright sky. Hark, hark, hark. — 5 years ago
Animal flavor. Leather. Still elegant and acidic. But when opening, cork stripped to inside of bottle. That means. 1982 @, Kai - JH, 190406-190601 — 7 years ago
Needs 2 hours. Lovely balance and softness. Not at the Lalande level but really nice. Classic in style. Moderate finish. — 9 years ago
Champagne Krug 1982. Dry fruits, toasty, and nuts. My friend didn't chill it too much, which was wise and correct to treat a vintage champagne like this bottle. — 11 years ago
Slightly hazy (poor reflection on my impatient decanting ) but quite deep garnet, wide terracotta rim . Slightly high toned , quite meaty dried mushroom nose, red currant , degraded blackberry and earthy notes. Just a bit rustic and lacks a bit of definition and interest to be honest . On the palate shows better with good poise and roundness, finely judged acidity with , ripe and quite vivid mix of red and dark fruit. Touch of sous bois and grafite , seems younger on the palate than the nose or appearance would indicate. Good persistence too , with rounded still noticeable tannins . Overall an ok showing , and only started deteriorating after 3 hours in decanter , especially considering the upper shoulder ullage, there will be better bottles out there . Drink now and over the next 5 -7 years . — 3 years ago
Tasted blind. Reddish tawny, almost opaque. Big shoulders in the nose. Complex. Notes of briary brush, raspberry, hickory, pepper and tobacco leaf. Mellow in the mouth, especially when compared to the big nose. Sweeter fruit finish. Took some deductive time with my guess... 82 Margaux which freaked out my friend who brought the bottle. This is in a good place, not sure if it will improve with more age. But it’s in no danger of declining anytime soon. — 5 years ago
xmas eve. Really nice bottle. Medium brown / crimson hue. Was firing right out of the bottle. Double decanted for 6hrs and served with ny strip roast and it only got better. Tar, autumn leaves, ash. And a slightly syrupy caramel note that gave a bass (but not roasted) note. — 7 years ago

One of the most elegant wines I have ever had from Australia. Perhaps on the other side of its life but pure with wild herbs, smoked meat notes and great length. 1980 — 10 years ago
