2005 vintage. At lunch with Pierre Lurton at Chateau D'Yquem. Medium golden hue. Quite restrained on the nose - poached peaches, stewed apricot, saffron, sweet spice, wet stone minerality. On the palate, medium plus acidity - far less than 2014, medium sweet perception, great liveliness and energy. Good angles. Not as long as the 2014, but more body. Drink 2019-2035. — 8 years ago

1985 Sassicaia. Second red wine at Redd Wood lunch w A, S, and K. This wine was perfect. Epic. We could not believe how perfect this wine was drinking. Thoroughly enjoyed it- it was enjoyable the way truffles are- hard to describe, but pleasing to all relevant senses. — 10 years ago
Perfectly balanced, well integrated, and pairs best with good conversation. Even for an Italian, this Tempranillo gives any Nebbiolo a run for its money. — 10 years ago
Magnum 2008 Screaming Eagle Cab. Wine #4 for K's birthday dinner at Press. Really interesting to drink this after having the Harlan vertical at lunch and side-by-side with the Heitz and Martini. This 2008 much more ready to drink than Harlan. We decanted for an hour before drinking, but it was still really muscular and chewy. Was really delicious to drink while having our steak. Awesome treat. — 10 years ago
Drank this at a crazy lunch at Guy Savoy in Paris and will never forget it. Such a fleshy fruity memorable bottle. — 8 years ago
1999 Gianfranco Soldera Riserva Brunello. Lunch at T w Roger S and BP. Drank alongside the '99 Insignia. Decanted this wine ~30 min. We think this was an off bottle. Thin, high acid, no finish. Too bad. — 8 years ago
Magnum 1978 Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard CS. Lunch at RW w S&L DiM and P&S Co. This was unbelievable- blew our minds how much we enjoyed this wine. Loved that it was out of magnum and we all thought it was absolutely perfect to drink right now. — 9 years ago
Phenomenal Pinot Noir for the money. — 9 years ago
Delicious, floral hops — 10 years ago
One of my favorite whites over the last couple years, faintly sweet but packed with melon, white flowers and minerals. — 10 years ago
Finally getting caught up on stuff I had in France. This needed more time open than we could give it during lunch, but went down quickly nonetheless. Deep and meaty and bloody with a touch of floral lift. Fully resolved tannins and incredible length. — 10 years ago
Decent before-lunch tasting! ;-) — 10 years ago
Wholly underrated if one looks at vintage alone. This wine out shines vintage examples from Margaux & Lafite. HB & Latour would give it a run for the money however — 12 years ago
What more could you want in a cab? One of my favorite wineries and an excellent vintage. Well worth the money to add a few bottles to your collection. — 8 years ago
Very good, great value for the money. — 8 years ago
Not a rose fan but I like this one. Tart up front but then a smooth finish. Pretty color. Perfect warm weather lunch wine. — 9 years ago
Tastes like a CDR. Black pepper aplenty. — 9 years ago
2005 DRC Grand Echezaux Burgundy. Drank at lunch w DS and Jan at The Ivy. This wine needed time and really came around and was much more complex and drank like we had hoped it would. Awesome. — 10 years ago
So smooth with a great bbq steak!

Everyone knows I’m a fan of LRA but I’ve not had the 98 for a long time!
As I just found some @ £68 I had to try & it’s lovely for the money with lots of life left 👍
