Ripe red fruit and candied rose aromas and flavors define this exuberant Rioja, which takes on spicy nuance with air. Well-concentrated but lively in style, the 2018 shows very good balance and focus, with finely woven tannins adding closing grip. $15.00 (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2021) — 3 years ago

El Puntido from Viñedos de Páganos is a 100% Tempranillo red wine from Rioja.
It is fresh, fruitforward with dark red fruits and quite some depth and length. Viñedos de Páganos is one of the many estates of the Eguren family, winemakers in Rioja with a 150 year history, amongst which Sierra Cantabria, San Vicente and La Nieta. — 3 years ago

Beauty in the structure of this vintage with quite a bit of American Oak up front. Juicy berries on the backend. Visited this winery in April of 2016 and was struck by the amazing architecture by Santiago Calatrava, surrounded by the Sierra de Cantabria mountains... definitely worth the visit. — 7 years ago
Rotondo, corposo, buon profumo ma troppo alcolico.

Out of all the wines I've had in Spain so far this one is my favorite. Went great with clams in white wine sauce. — 8 years ago
Martinez
Blend of Tempranillo (80%), Garnacha (15%) and Graciano (5%) from the El Bosque vineyard, hence its name. Located at the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria, this vineyard was historically known as Viña Borgoña due to the presence of Pinot Noir. Aged for 5 years in oak. Elegant, serious wine. Dark ruby, orange hues. Complex nose with aromas of dark fruit, leather, herbs (fennel, mint, licorice), dark chocolate, cedar and smoke. Fresh, lots of red fruit on the palate. High acidity. 2005 and still so young. — 3 years ago
