On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Herbert Blomstedt is leading an all MOZART program tonight (Piano Concerto No. 17 in G) with the incredibly talented Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then concluding with MOZART (Symphony No. 41, Jupiter).
Nose is a little tight on this right now, but it is incredibly stoney, like a walk through a stone masons lot and a neighbor two properties down recently mowed the lawn.
The palate is opening, good minerality, light acidity, tropical fruit, yet showing restraint like no other CA Sauvignon Blanc I've ever experienced. Interesting stuff, likely will finish this bottle tomorrow (with updated notes) so that we can see what extended air time reveals... — 7 years ago
Dry and crisp. Subtle fruits flavors. — 8 years ago
Note: Small dot over the O in SOPRA Sangiovese alludes to the etymology of the word Sangiovese, from the words SANgue (blood) and GIOVE (Jupiter), small circle on the label depicts one of Jupiter's moons, aged for 24 months in barriques. Ruby with aromas of red fruits and toasty notes. Palate shows dried cherry and black raspberry with notes of cacao, tobacco and licorice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, smoky oak and earthy character. Nice! — 3 years ago

Overwhelming aroma of lavender and marjoram with a touch of Jupiter esp on the finish. Love. — 7 years ago
Grand cru. High quality and delicious — 7 years ago
Nose of twilight - dark fruit and leather.
Deep, dried plum, fig , prune. The acid and tannins are both big, bold, and have no issues with shyness. The finish is in your face in a full on fight club. May be a bit smoother in 5 - 10 more.. still quite good now, decanted 4 hours.

Still fairly Bright -- red 🍒 -- softer tannins for Sangiovese. Truly the blood of Jupiter. — 8 years ago
Very smooth body, plum, berries. Very balanced palate — 3 years ago
Nose has this crazy level of richness. Dense honeyed. Not at all what I expected. Almost like an old wine from the northern Rhône. Palate exhibits typical mosel green apple but it is enrobed in amazing richness. Mineral. Acids. Not over the top as the acids go toe to toe. Wow. Finish is heaven. For the top god. Zeus. Odin. Jupiter. Not the god of gutters or anything. Wow. So long. Was prepared to like this. Not to bow down before it. If wine collectors tried This wine it would cost $100 on release. Needs 45 minutes to show. Bought from Fass Selections. — 7 years ago
High minerality. BandAid/Brett, green olive, white pepper, Jupiter, tar, rubber. Medium plus acidity, elevated tannin, medium plus body. — 7 years ago
This was better than the much more expensive 2007 Halos de Jupiter. — 8 years ago
