What can I say as I have the last case of this marvelous 2008 Chardonnay. I first had this in St. Martin in 2012 at Le Pressoir in Grand Case. Buttery popcorn nose and a mineral palate. Smooth & perfect! Had this with a scallop appetizer and a whole Carrelet. — 11 years ago

Peppercorn, loamy earth and limestone meet plum on the nose. More black cherry than red, with a strong mid palate that transitions effortlessly to an elevated, almost floral (purple flowers) finish. Tannins are well integrated at this point. Enjoyed following 3 hr decant. — 12 years ago

100% Gamay.

Iron-tinted garnet. Clear and transparent.

The nose is royal. Complex commingling of floral note, red fruit, and minerality. Violet, rose petal, red cherry, wild strawberry, cranberry, tar, and iron. On the bouquet alone, this could very well be misunderstood for a Nebbiolo-based wine.

Structurally, the wine is built for long haul IMO. Grippy tannin, med plus acid, med low body (12.5 abv). 4 years old but this Beaujo tasted so young (who said it cannot age!). Still a lot of red fruit characters backed by mineral/stony frame. The same profile follows through from the aromas to the palate.

Pulled the plug on this bottle on a whim. No regret. Now I know I have to keep my hands off the rest of my bottles for another decade. Lovely juice! 91+ — 9 years ago

Reddish ruby with a little brown. Almost opaque. Pure nose of black cherry, mint, herbs, cola. Incredibly rich and round in the mouth. Long finish. Guessed old Heitz Martha's Vineyard. I think that's a complement to both. Opened 5 hrs in advance and then drunk over 4 more hours, this became more refined with time. Kind of angular versus the more opulent 45 Mouton. Parker's favorite wine the legendary 47 Cheval Blanc. What a treat to compare the two side by side. I think the 45 Mouton wins at the wire tho. — 10 years ago

This is great. Still the best-ever Pougets I've ever had from Jadot, and just about as good as Corton gets. Some of the sticky grip this showed last year is starting to recede and this is becoming more backwards and solid, but we're still in the window where this has plenty to show off even though I suspect it'll shut down hard pretty soon and quite possibly need all of two decades to reemerge. (If that sounds overly long, taste the '99 right now and get back to me.) So what is it, exactly, that's going on here even though most of the primary fruit is gone? What we have is an intense rock quarry of a Corton, firmly on the mineral rather than animal side of Corton, that not only smells and tastes like a glassful of pulverized rock but has the assertive structure and solidity to go with it. — 11 years ago
