Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Was recommended by the sommelier at Coq D'Argent. Surprisingly light for a Bordeaux down to 2008 being a cold year. — 11 years ago

9.3

A chunky, blood warming Burgundy for coq au vin. While it wasn't the last word on complexity it was satisfying and moreish. — 10 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Morgon Gamay 2011

Excellent wine. Just the right pairing for coq au vin- good dark fruits, nice acidity, earthy notes. Great! — 11 years ago

Le Téméraire Passetoutgrain Pinot Noir Blend 2011

9.1

I opened this to cook our coq au vin with, but after tasting it, I found it hard to dump in the Dutch oven! This is great passetoutgrain with crackling crunchy fruit! Now I have to find something better to pair with the dish... — 10 years ago

Côtes du Forez Gamay 2013

I've had this a few times now. I love gamay. Americans don't quite appreciate gamay because of the acidity. It's made for food, period. This Forez is great. Cranberry, cherry, spicebox and herbs. It's fresh and it gets your palette ready for things like lamb, coq au cin, and wash-rind cheese. — 10 years ago
