Domaine De La Grand'Cour (Jean-Louis Dutraive)

Le Pied De La Rue Fleurie Gamay 2017

Magenta color. Threw small amount sediment. Perfumed floral nose of violets. Light to medium bodied. Tart raspberry & cranberry. Super high acidity (?VA) was a detractor for me. Couldn’t tame it with food. — 5 years ago

"En la Rue de Vergy" Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir 2014

Reminded more of corton than anything else. Big, rich and full while having tension that comes out with air. A seriously impressive bottles of wine. This is the blanc — 7 years ago

En la Rue de Vergy Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2012

The sommelier described this selection as fruit forward, but I respectfully disagree. I experienced more minerals than anything else, which seems consistent with the fact that this delicate tasting wine is grown directly in the limestone bedrock, with very little soil. Hints of pepper rounded out the flavors. Excellent! Paired well with langoustines and lamb. — 7 years ago

Domaine Michel Gros

En la Rue de Vergy Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2016

Pop and 1 hr slow ox before tasting. On the nose: denser and more tightly wound than the 17, but still darn good: soft earth, a suggestion of coffee toast, black raspberry, soft spiced plum. On the palate: fantastic acidity, blackberry, strawberry leaf, soft, but very bright coffee notes, and finely grained tannin on the finish. This is a village wine, but it definitely seems structured to improve with some short term aging. Yum. — 4 years ago

The ‘16s are still trying to figure themselves out I think. I find that across the board. The 17’s and 15’s are much better at this point. Or at least easier to drink.

Their corton wines are silly good. They all need like 20 years but wow. Never had anything from cotes de nuits

@Alex Lallos Have had really good Cortons from Ambroise, and a few duds. Cortons can be massive wines, but they are priced so well compared to most other Grand Cru Burg. Maybe not quite the subtlety of Richebourg. But worth it at 1/5 the price.
