Domaine de Terrebrune

Bandol Mourvedre Blend Rosé 2020

Delectable Wine
9.4

Limpid orange. Mineral-accented blood orange, strawberry, floral and succulent herb scents show fine definition and pick up a spicy nuance with air. Chewy and densely packed yet energetic and sharply focused on the palate, offering vibrant red berry, bitter cherry, citrus pith and honeysuckle flavors and a deeper peach pit flourish. The mineral and floral notes return on the very long, precise finish. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2021)

Vivid straw-yellow. A suave, intensely perfumed bouquet features fresh pear, tangerine, iodine, buttered toast and smoky minerals that show superb definition and spicy lift. Penetrating, concentrated and sharply focused; a core of juicy acidity supports powerful orchard and citrus fruit and honeysuckle flavors that deepen through the midpalate. Rich but lithe as well, with superb finishing energy and mineral-driven tenacity. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, September 2020)

Domaine La Bouïssiere

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2019

Vivid ruby. The bouquet is made of ripe red berries, cherry and lavender aromas, along with subtle licorice and white pepper flourishes. Broad, fleshy and appealingly sweet, showing juicy raspberry, cherry-cola and baking spice flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. Closes long and smooth, with discreet tannins and a strong floral note. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023) — a year ago

Doug's Vineyard-Romsey Pinot Noir 2020

Just a swig. A little syrah-like, I thought. Probably the vintage. Still, a complex number with good energy. On a separate note, a well-deserved accolade for Josh this year - Best New Winery at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards. Bravo! — 9 months ago

Bandol Mourvèdre Blend Rosé 2020

Limpid orange-pink. Expressive red berry, blood orange and pit fruit aromas are accompanied by building mineral and floral nuances. Taut and energetic in the mouth, offering sappy strawberry, orange zest and lavender flavors braced by a spine of chalky minerality. Finishes silky and impressively long, with repeating mineral and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)

Doubleback

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘18: 90% CS, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot. Least favorite of the night. Still a good wine but perhaps a bit too young, or just different enough from the others that I liked ones with a bit more age. This wine had a little more density than the others and perhaps a little more earth and graphite coming through that masked the fruit. It still had the classic doubleback elegance of the others but I felt we were not seeing this wine’s true expression. It only had about 1 hour in the glass and perhaps I need to pull another bottle, decant for a few hours and see what it does. — 3 years ago

@Mark Turner I double decant these. How was the ‘07? And go Pats!

@Eric Urbani I thought the ‘07 was drinking great. I had several bottles over the years and it has lost some of its bravado. It was a very smooth, elegant wine but I plan to drink the remainder in my cellar over the next 2-3 years. I don’t see it holding up for another 10.
