Deep magenta. A complex, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes black raspberry, kirsch and lavender, along with vibrant mineral and exotic spice flourishes. Incisive red and dark berry, bitter cherry and succulent herb flavors show fine detail and spicy cut. Chewy, slowly building tannins add shape and grip to a strikingly long, nervy finish that echoes the cherry and floral notes. All whole clusters. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023) — 3 years ago
Limpid orange-pink. Expressive red berry, blood orange and pit fruit aromas are accompanied by building mineral and floral nuances. Taut and energetic in the mouth, offering sappy strawberry, orange zest and lavender flavors braced by a spine of chalky minerality. Finishes silky and impressively long, with repeating mineral and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)

Limpid orange. Highly perfumed, mineral-accented strawberry, cherry, tangerine and floral aromas are complemented by a subtle herbal nuance. Vibrant red berry and zesty orange pith flavors show fine clarity and a dusty mineral flourish on the back half. Finishes very long and focused, displaying firm tension and repeating florality. Shimmering orange-pink. Pungent cherry and red berry scents take on floral and spice nuances with air. Shows silky texture and good depth to the zesty red currant and bitter cherry flavors, which turn sweeter through the midpalate. Smoothly blends heft and energy and finishes long and nervy, with a hint of bitter orange pith adding final bite. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2021)

Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘17: 87% CS, 7% Merlot, 6% petite Verdot. Tobacco and raspberry on the nose, blackberry, raspberry and oak on the plate with a long fruity finish. The least earthy of the bunch tonight. Still young, will benefit from additional age. — 5 years ago
Yes it was a Pinot noir Carla — 6 years ago
This wine is dry with citrusy aromas. Medium body, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol 13%. On the palate flavors of citrus, pomelo, light grassiness. Flavors are harmonious, with nice balancing acidity.
Nice wine.

This was a really nice cab. Paired well with chili. Bold flavor, yet smooth. Cherries, strawberries, and a bite of citrus at the end. Dark plum color. I would absolutely buy again, would go fabulous with a steak. — 4 years ago
Tossed in to a mix of red burgs, and it stood out as a new world pino with it's cleaner fruit and "modernity" (as G puts it, less VA?). I think it's all about the structure of the wine in comparison. Josh's was definitely lighter versus the d'Eugénie and Mugneret-Gibourg, the acid perceivably more prominent (almost steely), and minerality less so (if any at all). That's not to detract from Josh's really delicious creation, it's just different.
A light wine with heaps of flavour built around a red fruit core. Reflects the vineyard well I feel, having worked with the fruits from the Newnham family (same plot?) in 2017 and briefly in 2018 - small berries that produced lightly-coloured, aromatically charged wines with minimal tannins. This was in the same vein I feel, but Josh certainly pulled a lot more subtance out of these fruit than we did at KW. He's managed to weave in spicy, earthy, herbaceous nuances, and definitely extracted more colour. Mouthwatering acidity and commendable length. Probably the best Australian pino I've had all year (not like I had much to begin with)! — 4 years ago

Very good value for a Reserve Cab. Raspberry and blackberry and slightly nutty flavors. I would buy another bottle or two. — 6 years ago
We love this one… probably a new favourite. We bought it at BJ’s — 10 months ago
Legendary Loss
Calera founder Josh Jensen passed away earlier this month after a lifetime of achievements that included elevating American Pinot Noir on the world stage
Day 1
Served this with the Vinloq System
👃Bold, sexy, purple fruit floods from the glass endlessly
👅Spicy purple fruit, blood orange, sasafras, and licorice. A gentle tannic pull on the smoke tinged finish. Drinking well
Remaining wine was Slow Decanted in my refrigerator
DAY 10
👃Sweet, spicy, purple fruits with more vanilla, oak, vegetal, and tobacco notes than Day 1
👅Same sweet plummy fruit with tobacco and licorice. Fruit forward but balanced. Soft tannins and no heat
I did not have a preference for Day 1 or Day 10. There were more oak notes on both the nose and palate on Day 10. Two solid showings👍This is solidly in its drinking window & will be there for quite some time 🍷 — 4 years ago
Excelente vino con tonalidades de vainilla, un fuerte escencia de barrica , frutos de la pradera aspiracionista! — 5 years ago
Limpid orange. Mineral-accented blood orange, strawberry, floral and succulent herb scents show fine definition and pick up a spicy nuance with air. Chewy and densely packed yet energetic and sharply focused on the palate, offering vibrant red berry, bitter cherry, citrus pith and honeysuckle flavors and a deeper peach pit flourish. The mineral and floral notes return on the very long, precise finish. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2021)
