Light, mild cherry Beaujolais, with medium acid and tannin, at pre-Christmas dinner (Total Wine) — 7 years ago
2016 has been a challenging year for Hermitage, as hail in April caused a severe reduction in volume. The quality of the final product, however, benefitted from perfect temperatures in Autumn. Silene is a selection from Jean Louis Chave, who cultivated this land since XV century. The granite soil of Crozes is fully reflected in the wine, showing raspberry notes on a mineral vein. Time will allow to grow up some more interesting tertiary flavors, for now limited to tobacco and a hint of licorice. The taste, however, is already balanced, with soft and ready tannins balancing a strong minerality core. I'd suggest to leave it there for 2-3 years at least, to check whether the potential it showed on the nose can fully develop. — 8 years ago

Springtime = Chenin time. Citrus, saline, white flowers, marzipan. Beautiful selection by @Pascaline Lepeltier, MS ! — 8 years ago
The 1997 is in a glorious spot right know. All the components are in harmony. The nose is so intoxicating almost haunting. Notes of road tar, black olive, spy, fennel seed are wrapped with dried black cherry, plum, cassis and blood orange. The tannins are silky with lots of spice and earth tones with the dried and fresh red fruit flavors. Mineral and fruit driven finish. I very minor nit is the mid-palate lacks just a bit of texture. 1997 was a tough year but the Chave philosophy of blending across the lieu fits and a rigorous selection have yielded a gem. From a hedonistic perspective this is a 10. — 8 years ago

Vintage 1994 - Selection de Grains Nobles - I bought this #CoteauxduLayon in 1996 when the kids build sandcastles on a small beach on the banks of the Louet river just beneath the river “La #loire in the commune #Rochefort. After 23 y this wine has a mahony brown colour, a shy smell but terrific balance. Beautiful #cheninblanc to partner a Xmas Tarte Tatin. And also a sweet memory 😃 — 8 years ago
Fantastic raspberry, cherry, and blood orange oil on the nose. Weightless body, followed by stones and tannins in the finish. Delightful vieilles vignes. Nice selection, K&L. — 9 years ago

Popped and poured after the Gonet-Medeville BdN 1er. This is also mostly Pinot Noir however with 20% Chardonnay. Comparatively, this pours a more pale color, again with a persistent mousse. Aromas of white flowers (specifically citrus blossom), white peach, and ever so lightly toasted brioche. On the palate, white peach, pink lady apple, lemon and minerals. Good acid. Long finish. Lovely texture. This came across as a noticeably more rich, refined, and elegant Champagne and it made a beautiful pairing with my selection of Mussels Dijonnaise. Disgorged August 21, 2018
