Reddish in color with medium intensity.
Pretty and complex nose, and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with raspberries, cherries, spices, very light oak, licorice and chocolates.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a beautiful red blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Elegant and nicely balanced. Rich and fruit forward. Very fresh tasting, and easy drinking.
Still young, but already complex and interesting. The high alcohol is well integrated already.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
A blend of destemmed grapes from over 100 year old vines. 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre. The Grenache is aged in concrete vats, while the Mourvedre is aged in new French oak barrels.
16% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

I was going through my La Chapelle section today and my eyes got stuck on this 1999 - bottle looked absolutely pristine and I decided it was a perfect age to drink. Cork was in great condition and the wine was powerful and youthful with no signs of oxidation. Could have kept the bottle for a few more years, but it was probably perfect today. All the complex leathery earthy goodness you expect from this wine was there. — 3 months ago
Heavy plum and blackberry currant on the nose, smooth and robust/full bodied finish. Excellent Napa Cab. — 4 months ago
2014 vintage. Excellent fill and cork. Not decanted. Tasted after 1.25 hours open. The best red I’ve ever tasted from Paul Hobbs (and have had approx 125 samples over the years-including the high-end bleep). In a really admirable place currently between integration and balance, fruit and tannins. Will it improve? Doubtful. Can it hold steady for a spell? Definitely. Not exactly the biggest fan of what consists of To Kalon/Tokalon juice/interpretation these days vs the 60’s/70’s/80’s/earlyish 90’s but this was phenomenal. Medium body with respectable sed. A mullet wine…all business up front with a party on the back palate. Color me surprised and impressed. 11.8.24. — 8 months ago

Strawberry, blueberry with medium acid, beautiful medium ruby color, medium body with dry ending. Great on its own, even better with duck breast. — 3 months ago

Popped and poured from a half bottle; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The “Oeil de Perdrix” is made in the saignée method and pours a pale copper/pink color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, raspberry, pink pepper, lemon, and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely expression of a Blanc de Noir Rosé from Bouzy. Disgorged April of 2023. — 5 months ago
Raspberry, dried rose petals, strawberry seed, chalk, rich with great acid. Large bubbles. — 9 months ago

(It’s evening). Bright straw yellow. Pronounced nose. Blossom, peach, sweet yeastiness, gentle nuttiness, golden apples and pears, spicy chicken skin soup, sweet baking spices (vanilla, cinnamon). Deep and intense but round and broad, not piercing.
Dry, high acid, high alcohol, full, rounded body, hint of spritz, very saline, nice long finish. A bit austere. Couldn’t quite cope with brilllat savarin but great with the others.
