Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Pastiche has half price wines on Wednesday’s so I went for one of their higher priced ($64) bottles. Haven’t had a Jack London Vineyard in a long time so I thought this was the time to try it. Not very complex and a tad sweet. I’m amazed that they can sell this at the $64 price on other nights. Don’t know the retail for this wine. Don’t think I would order again. — 4 years ago

Jack Robert's Run Sonoma Coast Syrah

Cork was almost black on the end. Dark purple in color. Heady scents of violets and smoke. First drink is bright raspberry with some acidity. It slides into dark fruit, gravel, smoke. Incredibly smooth. Finish leaves me wanting for more! — 5 years ago

Jack Creek Cellars

Kruse Vineyard Grenache 2014

Transparent burgundy with orange tinged halo in the glass. On the nose, one detects dark cherry, black pepper, and barely a hint of floral notes. The dark cherries reappear in the mouth with a bit of smoky sweet complexity and medium tannins. Finish lingers a little. I’d say it is quite a nice versatile wine. — 4 years ago

(Black Label) Old No. 7 Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey 2019

Some days, you want something stronger than wine, and today has been well.......one of those days.

Old No.7 brand, since 1866, a sour mash whiskey favorite. Jack & Coke works for me.

Tennessee Honey

I'm not a whiskey drinker, but when I do this is always my choice. The strength of whiskey is nicely balanced with honey, which you can definitely taste here! Perfect neat, or with ice or as a hot whiskey for cold weather. — 7 years ago

Jack Winery

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Steve Distler, owner of Arnyca, is doing consulting for a few small labels out in Napa. As I've posted before, his Arnyca cab franc is my favorite out of Napa Valley. He was the former GM at O'Brien Estate and was able to add them to his portfolio, along with Cobden Wini (winemaker for Arnyca and winemaker at O'Brien), Frias Family and Jack Winery. Killer line-up of small production stuff. We hosted him for a wine dinner and all of it was stellar.

Jack Winery utilizes the talents of Aonair winemaker Grant Long Jr. Jack was started by Vernon Wells (former MLB player) and Chris Ianetta (current MLB player). This '14 cab is from Diamond mountain and drinking well at a young age. Not as monstrous as young Howell Mountain cabs. Red and black fruit dominant with a decent amount of espresso and pepper. Needs to rest for a few years but has very good potential to be extremely good.
