A group of serious wine aficionados agreed this was the best Chardonnay they had tasted in a long time. Elegant with integrated fruit and oak flavor. — 9 years ago
Tasting Group. Group 4th, my 2nd. Cherry cola aromas, integrated oak. Spritz. Complete. Simple. Long finish. — 9 years ago
The second wine in this flight was a favorite of the group, a classic 1985 Pichon Baron from the south end of Pauillac near Saint-Julien. When we first opened it there was talk of it maybe being corked, but we decanted it and the funk blew off and the wine blossomed into a beautiful old Cabernet. A gorgeous dark red color barely shows its age, a great first sign. The boquet shone with mints, red and black currants, a touch of bell pepper (in a good way), a strong note of pencil lead and a hint of smoke. The tannin were mostly resolved and integrated well in this wine, something I had read it had issues with in its youth. A long, elegant but focused finish, this wine is in a great place and very present once it woke from its slumber — 10 years ago
Last night was the Confrerie St. Etienne Spring dinner. It was my first time attending. This is a chapter of the original group out of Alsace, France, and is the only chapter here in the US...just happens to be in my neck of the woods! Great introduction to Alsace wines.
Look, I know, I know...I'm a big fan and supporter of this. That being said, even I was blown away at how this wine has evolved. This was the inaugural vintage and while I think the '14 has been my favorite upon release, this '12 was so impressive. Beautiful texture and integrated tannins...lots of plum, milk chocolate, and blueberries/blackberries. — 9 years ago

Great nose with hints of cocoa, red raspberry fruit with subdued sweetness, well integrated tannins with a nice acid finish that last for over a minute. I've possibly underrated this. Years ago Matt opened a ton of older bottles for a group of us during a winery visit and I have to believe this has time left in the tank. — 11 years ago
Opened at Marco’s Kabobs on Friday, the 13th (10/13/2017). — 9 years ago
July's monthly WTF group meet up. Blind tasting with a theme of French wines. Bravo to all those who joined...great wines!
HOLY SMOKES. This is the best CDP I've tasted. This lines up with my traditional style...heavier, darker, full bodied wines and actually mirrors new world quite a bit. Sediment sat around the glass. On pour, almost black. Maple syrup notes. Black and blueberry preserves. Cedar, licorice, well integrated tannins. Best served at around cellar temp. Still a bit hot, so in about 3yrs, this should be incredible. For what it's worth, Parker gave this a 96. Thanks to @Mark Flesher for the help here! — 9 years ago

Tasting Group. Group 2nd, my first place. Mint and cherries in the aromas. Integrated oak. Complex. Nice intensity. Bright flavors. Sassafras, cherry juice. Nicely integrated new oak (on the pushy side). — 9 years ago
I drank my last bottle of 02 Raphet Gevrey- Chambertin Les Combottes several months ago and decided to try 02 Raphet Gevrey- Chambertin Les Combottes Cuvée Unique which is my understanding that it was blended for an Importer or so I was told. Again this burgundy after 2-hours of decanting became expressive, balanced, with wonderfully integrated red fruit, asian spices, & cedar box, seamlessly coming together. Pairing wonderfully with the duck course! Love this wine.

Very elegant and well integrated. Quite honestly, this got over-shadowed by the ridiculous group of wines we enjoyed this evening. Smooth and elegant with ripe tannins, the fruit was a bit muted. Nice structure, but missing that extra level I typically find in this producer. — 9 years ago
