Deep pink. Sexy, aromatic nose of redcurrant, red cherry, rhubarb and white flowers. Then very spicy, with precise floral and saline nuances to the fruit-driven flavors. Finishes with excellent clarity and cut and a savory quality. Made from 10 to 80 year old vines of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera grown at 250-300 meters above sea level. Luminous, pale straw-green. Wonderfully vibrant, perfumed nose combines pear, green apple, Meyer lemon, ginger, lemon verbena and a steely, iodiney quality. Densely packed, tight and young, with a terrific core of citrus, powdered stone and orchard fruit flavor of uncommon purity. Already seamless but still youthfully imploded, this really coats the palate with its concentrated flavors on the horizontal, extremely long finish. This is so complex and rich it actually tastes as if a portion of the grapes had been hit by noble rot. Clocks in at 14% alcohol but you can hardly tell. Along with Terlano’s Vorberg, Nalles and Magré’s Sirmian and the Pinot Bianco by Doro Princic, this is Italy’s best Pinot Bianco wine. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2018) — 7 years ago
Bright red. Very perfumed floral nose of red berries and minty herbs. High but harmonious acidity lifts and extends the strawberry, orange peel and mineral flavors on the long, vibrant back end. The wine ages roughly 24 months in 33-hL Slavonian oak casks. Scopetone’s Brunellos are always some of the shrillest, most taut and pristine wines made in all of Montalcino, though at times they could use just a touch more flesh. That recognized, I love the floral perfume, very juicy strawberry flavors and mineral edge that give this wine a unique personality among Montalcino’s greats. Outrageously good for only $22. This wine single handedly showcases Aligote. Organic, wonderful minerality. Decant for 30 minutes. Why are my wine ratings consistently high? It's because almost everything I've been drinking is recommended by master sommelier Ian Cauble at sommselect.com and his selections are amazing. — 8 years ago
Wow, I'm drinking some more of this. Brought to Randy's dinner party with Shauna, Ian and Denise. Great value.. — 6 years ago
Nice zin, light tannins. Remembering Mr. MacLeod and our visit with him at the vineyard in March 2017. — 6 years ago
Bright pale red. Herbs and flinty red cherry on the nose and in the mouth. There’s a building savory, earthy quality on the long saline finish. A rather meaty Rosato in the typical style of Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. This also strikes me as one of the better Cearsuolo d’Abruzzos from this estate in some time. Pale straw yellow. Very refined aromas of white flowers, beeswax and white stone fruit. Fresh and lively with vibrant orchard fruit, mint and green apple flavors. Long and bright on the clean crystalline finish. A knockout Pinot Bianco that is truly mesmerizing on the nose. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2018) — 7 years ago
Decanting for 30 minutes makes all the difference. “The palate is pretty voluptuous delivering ripe tropical fruit notes and a ...long finish. “ - Ian Cauble — 7 years ago
Second and last of the blind white wines for our South African blind tasting. Relatively new to the US-DC market and brought in by Alyssa and Ian Red Wolf Imports. Made up of 100% Chardonnay, 100% barrel fermented and aged for nine to ten months in around 20% new French oak.
Medium yellow with a touch of oak and butter on the nose. A little bit of citrus too. Medium plus acidity (6.5/10) and rounded with a medium body. A creamy texture and mouthfeel throughout with notes of lemon zest, a touch of stone fruits and minerality. Needed to warm and some time in order to open up and lengthen. Medium plus to long finish. Would be very interesting to try with a couple years in the bottle. Drink till 2026. (92+) — 7 years ago
This wine possess a great deal of potential. The vineyard has the capability too. Honey, melon and a coated citrus fruit marries with bright acidity. Herb-accented aromas of green fig, tomato leaf and white flowers emerge from the glass. Bright floral and white pepper notes add lift to the lively but simple citrus fruit flavors. A subtle herbal nuance lends complexity on the long finish. $25.00 (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, December 2018) — 6 years ago
“There is so much wine packed into this $34 bottle it must be tasted to be believed- except that when you taste it, you can’t believe it! The cacophony of aromas, the richness of texture, the profundity of the minerality… Everything about it is extraordinary.” - Ian Cauble, SommSelect. Serve at 50° — 6 years ago
Bright deep pink. Musky aromas and flavors of dried cherry and rhubarb, with hints of licorice and herbs adding complexity. Broad and deep on the palate, displaying a chewy, fleshy texture typical of the hot year but also very good freshness. Finishes with serious grip and lingering florality. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, June 2018) — 7 years ago
Luminous deep red. Captivating aromas of sweet red berries, cinnamon, violet and licorice. Then also very fruity in the mouth; refined, juicy red plum and raspberry flavors linger brightly on the fresh back end. Has a delightful red fruit cocktail quality that makes it practically impossible to put the glass back down. And though it is simply bursting at the seams with early appeal, this truly lovely Brunello will also age well. Unless my memory fails me, this may well be the best entry-level wine from Casanova di Neri that I have ever tasted. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, April 2018) — 7 years ago
“...refined, elegant...with all the purity and perfumed complexity we yearn for in classic top quality Brunello” - Ian Cauble Decant for 40 minutes. — 7 years ago

Lime pith, ripe pear notes on the exuberant nose.... but the weight on the palate is impressive. Textured, waxy, lively acidity and a long almost saline finish. This is a food wine that can hold its own with Asian or Mediterranean cuisine and slice through the richness and complexity to make its own statement. An impressive introduction to Ian Brand and a stunning value. Kudos! — 6 years ago
