I’m not a “natural wine” devotee necessarily, but I am a Martha devotee.
Out to The Meadow is almost always one of my favorites in her line up. Chenin driven, this wine shows the variety’s funkier side on the nose (honeysuckle, wet wool, hay, gray stones). On the palate, it balances sweet (honey, honeysuckle) and sour (incredible tart, barely ripe green apple, white nectarine); fruity, vegetal and just the right amount of bitter (at least for those of us with an bias towards Italian whites) with Vermentino’s unmistakable salty fennel/herbal/grapefruit pith on the finish. Have no idea what “green hungarian” and “chasselas doré” add to the blend, but I trust the master and her modern interpretation of what a century old California field blend would have looked and tasted like. — 2 years ago

Would make a delicious sangria, add some fruit and be done — 6 years ago
Lovely Merlot. Very strong dark fruit on the nose. The balance is good. Body provides a nice mouth feel. Lots of mocha flavors on this one. Lingering tannin finish is nice. — 7 years ago

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Vineyard Blend is an experimental wine that was bottled a few times in Diamond Creek's history, but never officially commercially released. The 2013, a blend of 70% Volcanic Hill, 25% Red Rock Terrace, and 5% Gravelly Meadow is superb. What a wine. Rich, powerful and savory, the 2013 is just starting to enter the place where it is approachable, in relative terms of course. There is still plenty of hillside tannin, and yet there is so much about the 2013 that is alluring. The aromatic breadth, the intensity of the fruit and the wine's persistence are all so compelling. Wow. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2021)

A delightful Pinot. On the nose graphite, smoke, licorice, and tart cherries. On the palate bright cherries, leather, dark berry medley, anise, sweet pipe tobacco, with hints of game. While not generally my style this is a PN I actually wouldn’t mind having on hand due to it being a quality, approachable expression. — 6 years ago

Deep ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of ripe blackberry, juicy black cherry, dried black currant, black plum, pomegranate, mulberry, tobacco, cigar box ; dry, medium plus acid, medium plus ripe tannins, medium alcohol, full body pronounced intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, quite fruit forward but well balanced, fruit ripe and dried but not jammy, outstanding — 4 years ago

2010 compared to 2017. 2010 showed that the wine aged better than the 2017. — 8 months ago
