Love this Rose, especially on a hot day. Tastes of berries with a clean and crisp finish Very affordable but does not taste cheap. — 8 years ago
Low in alcohol which means I can have the whole bottle to myself! Perfect w oysters on a hot day! — 8 years ago
If there were ever an archetypical Syrah, Jamet's Cote-Rotie would be a strong candidate. To me this is a pure expression of a classic Northern Rhone Syrah. It is not a single site, but a blend of terroirs, encompassing over 20 sites mostly from hard rock schist bedrock with little to no topsoil. There is NO Viognier in this wine like one might expect from most Cote-Rotie that might have 1-5% co-fermented.
Importantly, there is also a lot less of the oak character that can dominate and overwhelm many Northern Rhone wines. The oak maturation, while not short at 22 months, only uses 15% new oak with no trace of it on the palate as it is perfectly integrated. Grape bunches are whole cluster fermented and macerated for up to 3 weeks.
The 2007 we have here was drinking superbly for a young wine, showing lively and racy layers of peppercorn spice, roast beef, and warm blackberry and currant fruit from the hot 2007 vintage. While from a warm vintage, not a hair is out of place. Density and purity exude from the nose and hint at what a brilliant future this wine has. Perfect acidity and fleshy ripe tannin provide the backbone structure for father time to peel back the layers of this beauty. I will be chceking back in 5 years at the earliest. — 8 years ago
2011: all varieties. Meaty, lavender, garden herbs, smoky, but still very vibrant red fruit. Lovely vibrancy of red fruit and all Mouvedre and Grenache aromatics. Sweet fruit, juicy acidity, hot indian spice and liquorice. Plum, cherry, spiced. Quite ready now. — 10 years ago
2011- gift from a friend. Excellent structure, tannins are very mellow but alcohol is still very hot. Fruit forward, possibly oxidized fruit (port-like fruit). — 10 years ago
Very bold, strong, long finish, good. NOT as good after opened for awhile — 11 years ago
Hot and jammy, but no faults, good stuff — 8 years ago
Still tight & a bit hot. 375ml bottle — 8 years ago
First time trying the '15s and it's as great as always. This is definitely a decent amount more brawny and ripe than the '14s but still identifiable as a Lapierre wine. That said, I'm still not the biggest fan of most of these '15's so far, they are too hot and ripe and don't really fit the profile of what I want from most Beaujolais. This is still pretty good on its own merits though. Day 1 it was closed and not giving up very much but on this morning, Day 2, it's come around and opened up quite a bit. Ripe, juicy strawberry and raspberry red fruit, tart rhubarb, wild violet, smoky gravel minerality, with a nice briny, almost gamey salinity underscoring things a bit. Nice medium (+) acid, medium (-) body with a great, soft texture. Just a touch of fine, supple tannic grip. There a bit of brett and VA but they're in balance rather than being a faulty distraction; the VA helps give a little extra lift, if anything. Will try another bottle after some more time has passed because even though it's good now it honestly still needs to come together a bit more; it seemed almost still slightly bottle shocked when I first opened it yesterday. If you're opening one soon I'd recommend giving it a little air to let it unfurl. — 8 years ago
So good , perfumery nose, dried fruit smooth tannins surprisingly fresh from such a hot vintage — 9 years ago
Very dry and lots of lemon and grapefruit. Good and refreshing on a hot day. — 10 years ago
Nose: raspberry, currant, vanilla bean, cedar, wet clay
Palate: raspberry, fig, sweet black tea, cherry. Explosive attack, a little hot and sugary. Let it breathe. — 10 years ago
Nothing better than rose on a hot summers day! — 12 years ago
Super hot. But really good. — 8 years ago
Thank God for cousins with hookups! Cracked this to celebrate my son, Johnny, and his arrival.
A little hot. I suggest one small rock to help release other aromas and flavors that can be overwhelmed by the alcohol. Vanilla, cream, baking spices. Absolutely love it accompanied with a Nicaraguan cigar. Cheers to new life and future endeavors! — 8 years ago
This is my go to white wine right now. It is crisp and fruity and fabulous in a hot day! — 8 years ago
I was so excited to open this 2006 Leoville Barton. The color was ruby red and dark crimson. Almost black. It opened very hot with just a short decant. The nose showed amazing cherry, raspberry, cocoa and coffee notes. On the palate the tannins are very evident. There are obvious dark berries and even some earthy vegetables and tobacco. Over the course of 2hrs it really came into its own and showed its meddle. This is a great wine and, in my opinion, a great value. While a bit young, this wine a still great now and will be amazing in 10 yrs. — 9 years ago
Love it. Better than last couple bottles I opened last year. Think it just entered my drinking window. The flavor is well integrated with the still powerful fruit characters and somewhat gripping tannin. Looking forward to the future development. It does tast a little bit hot to me, but still balanced enough. — 9 years ago
First wine opened for our homemade grilled pizza night. Great bottle to start with. Opened and let sit for about 2 hours-wanted to come across a little hot with the alcohol being so high but turned out to be perfect. Definitely a bottle to share! Black jam fruits on the nose-smoke, spice and a hint of herbs on the finish. Fun bottle! — 9 years ago
Amazing. Impressive acidity from such a hot region - amador - hot weather tastes with low alcohol (12.8%) and high acidity. — 10 years ago
So refreshing on a hot summer day. Very inexpensive at Trader Joes. — 10 years ago
Strong grapefruit. Refreshing. Great for a hot day. — 10 years ago
A lush "vinho verde" - or green wine! Beats Casal Garcia and Santola. Very fresh tasting. Easily drink several bottles on a hot sunny day at lunch! Has a great little "fizz" feeling on the tongue. — 11 years ago

Fruit is impeccable, but wish it to be a little less hot. — 7 years ago
