Smooth buttery Chardonnay with notes of apple and vanilla — 3 years ago
Ok I am a fan of rieussec especially the 2015 vintage; this one doesn’t stand up anywhere close to the 2015. This 2017 vintage wine is “interesting” as it delivers gewurtz like rose petals mixed in with pineapple and kumquat notes. Clashing with chocolate molten cake (my bad for trying to pair). If you have to try one, try 2015! Unless you can get hold of 2001. Cheers and merry Christmas from Bahia Honda — 3 years ago
This seasonal sake is called “Jumai Ginjo Namzake” from the Harushika Sake Brewery in Nara, Japan. It is insanely smooth sake that has a subtle cherry fragrance and aftertaste without it being too sweet. It’s one of the best sake’s I’ve tasted! — 4 years ago

One of the best #amontillado that I have ever had in my life. — 2 years ago
From Hyogo prefecture. Honda Shoten Tatsuriki Daigingyo. Ripe melon and golden pear on the nose.
This nihon-shu has a viscous quality. Yellow plum, ripe honeydew melon, apricot with a spicy cinnamon finish. We had duck soba with local Matsutake mushrooms and green onions charred in duck fat with this sake. — 2 years ago
2013 Sami-Odi Syrah DW-OLD
Thought I’d open something from my favorite Australian producer, @fraser_mckinley, in honor of the start of the Formula 1 Season in Melbourne. (Nice start for my man Max Verstappen and the new Red Bull partnership with Honda). My first and only bottle of the 2013, decanted for 3 hours. 14.4% alcohol. It appears a deep, dark, black hole in the Zalto stem. Nose of dark berries, clove-and-cinnamon and dried fruits, with some forest floor and floral notes in the background. On the palate, rich dark fruits with a cedary tannin. Wonderful acidity. Full-bodied, fresh, rich and complex. Lengthy finish. My recollection is that Fraser told me that 2013 was a difficult year with the entire first fruit being destroyed by frost, and then there was a second set. Always amazes me that these challenging years always seem to produce the most memorable vintages. I’m a big fan of Fraser’s work. — 4 years ago

Tatsuriki from Honda Shoten in Hyogo, Japan. Junmai Ginjo.
100 % Yamada Nishiki rice.
White peach, spring flowers and ume (green plums) on the nose.
Sweet honey dew melon, orange blossom, kumquat, lychee and a creaminess that lasts forever.
There is an elegance to this Nihon shu.
We had fresh caught local Spot Prawns sashimi and local diver caught octopus grilled.
