"Quartre" Méthode Carbonique Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Completely unexpected. Tastes like a cross between Vernier and Villemade. Carbonic was less evident than typical Loire. A wind that also lets one understand the use of concrete too. Drank with fantastic dinner at Thistle in McMiniville. — 11 years ago

Better than 2010 today? Or just a better wine, even with more bottle age?

Steve, across the board Herve is one the few winemakers in Burgundy who made better 2011's than 2010's. He agreed with me as well. Since July they have filled out remarkably and I am fully convinced now. Drinking the Chambolle 11 as I type and it is profound. But his 2012's the Clos Duc is actually Grand Cru "Hautes Cotes de Nuits." He has increased his prices on his HCDN wines but no one is even close to him quality wise in the appellation.

I'm headed to France next month. Spending time in Rhone, Burgundy, and Alsace. I would take any Burg winery suggestions. I've just as of recently started to explore this region. Qhdeputy at gmail.com
