A tropical fruit filled chilled SB with jumbo stone crab in a summer like day.

Took awhile to open up. Alcohol and licorice on the nose. Very full and floral. Thin and acidic on the palate. Kind of dry too — 7 years ago
Recently purchased by Bill Foley of Foley Family Wines, continuing traditions set by founder Fred Furth. Ruby with ripe fruit, spice and oak scents. On the palate cherry and strawberry with vanilla spice and cedar notes. Soft savory tannins, good balance on medium+ finish, great now! — 9 years ago
Drank a 35-year-old Rutherford Hill Napa Valley cab while getting our hearts broken last night. One good memory on a devastating night — 10 years ago
Really good, lots going on in it. Great with steak. — 10 years ago
Loads of tropical fruits on the nose; pineapple, passion fruit, guava, apricots, and acacia flowers. White stone fruits, grapefruit zest and sea salt on the palate. Lovely chard; crisp, complex, and enough fruit to round out the mineral notes. — 11 years ago

Pop and pour yesterday. Notes from day 2 open. On the nose: soft smoke and chalk, apple, lemon, a hint of reduction...lovely nose. On the palate: chalk, sour apple, lemon, loads of wet stone...fantastic acidity and good density...maybe my favorite incarnation of this wine so far... — 5 years ago
One hour decant(decent amount of sediment). A sumptuous dark ruby red with some bricking. On the nose: Sweet perfume jumps from the glass with black cherry, floral, black olives, and a minty menthol. Let's you know to buckle up....a 4 point harness system buckle up!! Taste: Sweet tannins coat the mouth with dark fruit and jolts of red plum, mocha, cedar, and toasty oak.
A full body, juicy wine with great acidity. A pencil lead/mineral looong finish. Drinking great now and will go another 10 years. Got 2 more bottles...YES!! — 6 years ago

Currant and perfume on the nose with some vanilla and subtle saline minerality. Full bodied dark fruits, velvet on the tongue, great mouthfeel. Tight, moderately tannic, then a smooth prolonged finish.
(Opened on my dad’s 80th) — 6 years ago
Big, warm, leather and spices on the nose. So much spice on the front of the tongue as you sip, jammy stewed blackberries, good tannins that pull the moisture from your mouth, and a spicey tingle that just lingers. Andrea said to drink with all the BBQ'd meats, so with steak tonight and brats on 4th of July! — 8 years ago
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Great fruity nose with black currants, blackberries, figs, cooked cherries, smoke, licorice, cedar, vanilla, alcohol, spices, cinnamon, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn and licorice.
Full bodied and big, yet smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, sweet plums, cherry pie, dried figs, tobacco, spices, wood, herbs, earth, leather and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a great Napa Bordeaux blend. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing good complexity with a great mouthfeel.
The tangy finish makes it interesting, with a teeth staining color.
This 3 year old is drinking very nicely now. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (one hour).
Rich and extracted. Delightful and delicious.
I paired it with a big piece of steak and grilled asparagus.
15% alcohol by volume.

Yum yum yum. Vibrant, natural, gulpable, grape juice. Sour red fruit, walnuts, herbs. Drank over lots of discussion of mouseyness, and thought I detected some after opened for a while, but I could have just been drunk and imagining things. — 10 years ago
This is the 2010, and it's a very pretty pinot. Color is light with a bit of salmon color and more of a translucent garnet. Nose has red fruit, white pepper, baking spices, sweet cherry, and smoke. Palate is nicely balanced with pronounced-but-very fine grained tannins. More red fruit, sweet spices, and vanilla come through on the palate. Finish isn't intense, but it is very pretty and actually it is long. With the right white-flesh fish, this would be an outstanding, talk-about-it-the-next-time wine. — 11 years ago
Somewhat of a cult Pinot in Tassie. Home Hill wins many trophies on the Show circuit. Very aromatic nose - a touch sooty. Medium
Weight palate quite long. Noticeable acid at finish. Good. 17+. — 12 years ago
Deep black cherry, touch of licorice, light cedar on the nose. Medium tannins. — 13 years ago
Nice version of this variety. Rich grape. Quite dry and acidic on the tongue. — 5 years ago
A Thanksgiving miracle! Was so worried that this bottle corked by the staining on the cork, but is all ended well! The fruit is barely there on this bottle from my favorite vineyard (Volcanic Hill) from Diamond Creek. Still an immense presence and complexity after decanting for 4 hours. Time had made this bottle a little more delicate than the others, but unmistakable Diamond Creek. Glasses were raised to Al and Boots as the vineyard has now been bought by Roederer. I believe it is in food hands. — 5 years ago
Late to post this from Friday night dinner at Gemma (Dallas spot with nice wine list). Surprised to find this one on the list and just had to order. Fortunately they decanted for us, but it was still a little cooler temp than my liking. Overall this is always a pleaser. Still can’t believe this is a second wine for PT. Silky smooth tannins. Approachable now, but will become even more elegant with time in the bottle. Can’t beat this QPR. Napa cab that holds true to Bordeaux style. (Drank 1/3/20) (not my photo) — 6 years ago

2010 vintage. Deep ruby hue. Amazing nose of white pepper, Chinese spice, black fruits and cocoa beans. Complex despite its youth. On the palate, medium acidity, medium plus body and alcohol, medium ripe silky tannins, full concentration and long finish. Extremely promising. Drink 2022 until 2040. — 9 years ago
Garnet red with some browning on the edges. Nose was definitely tight to start, with a couple hours of air it changes from chalky and savory to some dark berries. Kind of all mixed together. Cassis and blackberries in the attack with some earthy and vegetal undertones. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and a moderate body. Slightly furry moderate plus finish. Drink till 2019. — 10 years ago
Nice bottle. Tobacco notes open up to lovely delicate red fruit. Cherry, strawberry. Perhaps a touch heavy on the alcohol. Great acid. — 11 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Ruby with aromas dark red fruits and floral spice. On the palate black cherry, blackberry and plum flavors with cedar, pepper and vanilla spice. Big, yet soft tannins, long finish well balanced with acidity ending with fruit, cedar and floral spice. Nice! — 5 years ago
