What a wine.. 😁 there's just nothing like unfiltered, unfined, and unhinged Sauvignon Blanc. It's like my love for German Hefeweizen - hazy, but all of the flavor that Bevan would just lose if he wanted a star bright wine.. looks aren't everything. All the main indicators of SB, and much more - lemon grass, grapefruit reduction, unpasteurized clover honey, white peppercorn, vanilla, Meyer lemon, and white pear. Juicy acidity, intense and inviting florals, and fun to look at in the glass. 2016 is a great year for Bevan SB. — 8 years ago

A: Hazy, murky, strawberry red, incredibly light in color
N: something approaching lactobacillus up front, cranberry, fall spices, raspberry, strawberry, summertime red fruits in general
T: cranberry, framboise, stemmy bitterness on the finish, though there is not a very long finish as this wine is utterly without tannin
Overall: a very nice trusseau, would recommend and look forward to next release — 9 years ago
A wine that combines nature, art, terroir and an amazing story. From the volcanic island of Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna, Fattorie Romeo Castello had lava flows in a vineyard that they thought was lost after an eruption. Years later the vines pushed through the lava and the resulting fruit from this lava vineyard make this special wine. Thank you #MonicaLarner for bringing this wine to my attention through your pioneering critical writings.
Now for the wine notes:
The color is a slightly hazy garnet red color.
The nose is spectacular, revealing the complexity inherent in this wine. Notes of ash and volcanic rock give way to ripe bing cherry, a meaty roast beef streak, with subtle hints of roses, herbs and tar.
The palate is just as complex, showing power and elegance in the intensity of flavor, while plenty of acidity and firm, youthful tannin add length and freshness.

Hazy wine amazing — 8 years ago
Nice color of deep ruby with hazy purple on the rim. Nose is amazing with saturated ripe cherry, oak, strawberries, and peachy reserves. Taste is equally well with chewy oaky strawberries sweetness, ripe cherry jam, peppery, a bit zesty, very saturated once again. Aftertaste is dominated by zest peel and peppery note. I am pleasantly surprised she has achieved so much. — 8 years ago
Unfiltered, so a little hazy, with a rounded mouthfeel, but not heavy; it went down smooth. (It actually felt more rounded than I’m used to in a lager, but then I’m learning.) Really pretty floral/hoppy notes with pleasant malty notes— a bit of biscuit with a touch of honey and vanilla. Notes of apricot, ripe citrus, and spiced apple. — 9 years ago
Super solid Chardonnay. Only $35 and worth every penny. Crystalline yellow with a lime green tinge. Slightly hazy. Great nose of orange rind, lemon zest, essential oil, verbena, and creme brulee. Framed by subtle oak. Almost reminds me kistler Durrell — 10 years ago

Hazy, medium intensity, garnet appearance. Clean, pronounced intensity, raisins, plums, strawberry jam, strawberry, earth, prune, liquorice, stone, mushroom to the nose. Dry, low to medium acidity, full body, high alcohol, low to medium tannins. — 11 years ago

Hazy with tar and dark fruit, a bit along the lines of taurasi — 8 years ago
Pour a hazy orangish/brownish color similar to what apple cider looks like. The nose and palate are quite big. Lush honey, resin, pine, mint, wood and baking spice. Drink this neat, do not mix with other liquors or ice. Slowly sip and enjoy. A unique and tasty Amaro! — 8 years ago
Color of burgundy. A bit more brown than usual, and a bit hazy/cloudy. Nose is simply beautiful with wave of sweet tobacco leaves and nice oak, and a bit leathery. Taste is a harmony and chewy. A mix of tobacco leaves, oak notes, sugarplum, right amount of tannins, subtle dark fruits, and black pepper. The flavors are so saturated and so enjoyable. No need to breathe at all. Aftertaste is long with dominant flavors of almost everything present in the taste, and some additional bittersweetness. A charming wine. — 9 years ago

Pours hazy, pale gold color. Yeasty, brioche, and hazelnut aromatics. — 11 years ago
Really natural burgundy. Cidery, hazy, once the refuction goes away, it is lovely. — 11 years ago

Beautiful and unique SB. Super low yield vines. Spends 2yr in oak. All that the Cali style of SB can be. Hazy. Macerated Brown summer grass. Tamarind. 90$ for an SB seems pretty steep. — 8 years ago
