Heavier pinot than I'm used to, but huge back. Spice. Pretty cool. — 9 years ago
Black and blue fruit bomb from the guys at Harlan. Super silky tannins. Best wine of the night. — 9 years ago
Had it 2015.10.26--Scent of various flowers exploded when opened. First sip of this Napa Cult wine (Grand Cru of the region according to its winemaker) by Harlan already evoked memories of left bank Bordeaux wines. Aerated for about 30 minutes before enjoying its notes of peppery, leathery and berries and lasting taste with good steak and more importantly congenial company. I asked the friend and host to talk about his definition of good wine and he said--it's who you had the wine with that made it so very memorable...I guess we wine fanatics are just sentimental people after all :) — 10 years ago
Not a fan of white wine, but this wasn't bad — 10 years ago
It's not as good as the harlan but this behemoth is pleasing like riding a monster truck thru the mud after a boozy tequila shot — 11 years ago
Legit. Wow. I'll take this over Harlan any day — 11 years ago
Phenomenal special project Cab from famed Harlan Estate winemaker Bob Levy! Scrumptious Chewy heavy and Bold, massive red fruits, long finish. — 12 years ago
Wow! I would say a very pleasant surprise, but Westerly is the best WTSO discovery I have made. So when I saw this Bordeaux blend come up, I jumped on it. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Winemaker is Adam Henkel who used to be at Harlan.
Sometimes it's hard to live up to expectations, but this certainly did! Lovey lavender and warm oak notes in the glass. Very expressive. Strawberry, blackberry, cassis on the palate. I love the cab franc here! Well integrated tannins. Nice moderate finish. Winner!

Harlan in SA. Nice but lacks emotion. — 9 years ago
1993 Screaming Eagle Cab. Drank at Press w K, Iana, S, and AG. Such a treat and very interesting as Kplanned it as a comp with the 1991 Harlan. For the first hour or so, we all favored the SE. Super unctuous and round, like velvet in the mouth. Then the wines came to temp and the picture completely changed and we all grew to favor the Harlan. Interestingly, the SE got flabby and very, very sweet. A thought it was bc it lacked the tannins that the Harlan showed. Anyway, SE turned almoSt port-like, with a nose of dates, raisins, and prunes. Amazing and fun to see the change throughout the night. — 10 years ago
From the famed Prichard Hill estate vineyard, this 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a cult wine, rubbing shoulders with Screaming Eagle, Harlan and Colgin. The nose is typical of Napa Cab, with rich aromas of steeped blackberries, cassis, saddle leather, spice box and carmelized brown sugar. On the palate, it's silky, sexy and nicely balanced. There is a lovely, polished interplay of fine tannins and glycerol, along with darker notes of saddle leather, cedar, and espresso beans. Medium plus finish. — 10 years ago
Wonderfully zippy. That's totally a wine word. Don't doubt it. — 11 years ago
I would love to put this wine in a blind tasting of all the Cult Cabernets. I wouldn't be surprised if this beat them all. It certainly would finish in the top three. Yes, this includes; Screaming Eagle, Scarecrow, Harlan etc.. It's so full, round, lush, elegant & perfectly ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, blueberries, plum, dark cherries, dark raspberries. Baking spices done just right, sweet lush rich moist dark earth, dry florals, fresh violets, spice/box, powder from crushed rocks, cocoa powder, suede style leather, a hint of stems, dead on acidity and an elegant round finish that doesn't stop. — 9 years ago
Tasty. Well balanced with fruity finish and light minerality compared to most Viogniers. Could drink at summer bbq — 10 years ago
This is some *seriously* good Syrah. Right up there in terms of quality with the big wines from Alban Vineyards, Ovid, and Harlan Estate.
Immense fruity palate, but not in an overpowering way. Gobs and gobs of complexity and character to the nose and taste, and a lingering aftertaste that never seems to fade. And the dryness. The dryness and fruitiness in combination will blow your mind with every sip
Astounding wine. Truly astounding. — 11 years ago
