Overall impression is hindered from a cold but overall from what I can gather it is what I have come to expect from Sauzet with a rich, toasty nose, then a palate with cut, verve and minerality with a long finish. #pulignymontrachet #sauzet #chardonnayfromthebestplaceonearth — 9 years ago
The Ridge Lytton Springs Zin 2012 was excellent bang for buck at $32. I also gather it is tough to find. Silky and smooth with good berries and a hint of vanilla. The tannins were youngish and I'd expect the body to develop over the next couple years. nice oaky finish. Very pleased. — 10 years ago
Rich and amber-hued, this dessert wine offering from cult winery, Sine Qua Non is crafted from 100% botrytized Viognier. Harvested at 42 brix, it's a remarkable elixir that offers up notes of ripe apricot, orange marmalade, mace and vanilla. Concentrated, waxy and viscous. There is enough acidity to bolster hedonistic flavors of bruised pear, golden raisin, clover honey and whole cloves on the finish. Ample spice notes gather like an impending storm on the tip of the tongue. Exotic and very memorable. — 10 years ago

Bodacious is the name, and smokey, sultry petit syrah the game. I'd prefer a little less char (toast on their barrels I gather), but this id chewy and ripe and intense, just like I like em. :) — 12 years ago
Let's gather around and listen to the tales grandpa will tell you! The story the wine! Holy holy holy! This is Napa

Meao Tawny NV (1999 stock)
From stocks that Francisco is experimenting with, these Tawny wines may or may not turn into a commercial bottling. From what I gather with discussing it with Luisa they are still tinkering with the blend and the style they want to represent as a Meao Tawny.
Caramel and roasted nuts jump from the glass and fan out over the thicker textured wine that adds oxidized notes of orange and ginger. If anything for me as good as this is it could use a little more freshness.
Tasted at Quinta do Vale Meao 10/16/2015.

I love how it's so crisp. You can really gather how the terroir has played into it's beautiful mineralality. Right? — 10 years ago

Wow! Just popped and it's in great shape. Really good and interesting. Bright red fruit with high acidity, a pronounced cured black olive note, and a bit of menthol are what I gather now. I'm sure this will open and reveal more. — 9 years ago
Delicious; balance spot on, plenty of interest and great to drink. Apparently the Browns have been growing Graciano in King Valley since the 1920s, and I gather the Tempranillo vines are several decades old, too. Anyway, this has bags of fruit - strawberry, blueberry and blackberry - on the nose, which also brings in dusty chocolate, earth and smokiness. Silky and super fresh on the palate, which is quite perfectly even and lingering. Yes. — 10 years ago
Last night in Jackson Hole dining at Gather. Liked but not loved, fruit is still there but starting to fade. The tannins will support more time but I'm not sure the fruit will. — 10 years ago
Gritty Tannin Dusty cherry she's big for her britches but don't that deter ya boy, saddle up and ride! You could even ride her when she is a bit older in 5yrs and the experience she would gather I reckon would be worth it.
Dark plum cassis and black bush berries, fill out the light sagey spiced nosed, great weight. I still think it is the best thing they do. — 10 years ago
Extreme concentration of cassis and blackberries, the richness of the tobacco leaves meets backgrounds of cedar oak, chocolate and mint, all that complemented by an animal and meaty aggression. Full-bodied palate, tannins are firm and well established, long finish where prunes, mint and bay leaves gather all together. An instant classic. Coonawarra's Cab at its best. — 11 years ago
The second time I had this wine this week in Arbois. Sometimes you open a wine and think its too reduced and gather some opinion about it then you open it again and realize its fucking beautiful and yr an idiot. — 13 years ago

Tasting the 2014 vintage, I gather this was bottled in 2016 marking 50 years since Udaca formed back in 1966. Its anniversary also celebrates a classic throwback label. Never more has Udaca been so full of Dão personality. Medium bodied, with floral high notes, a core of brambly fruit, and a wisp of clove and star anise, it is a red for we who enjoy the racy reds of the Loire in warm vintages. A lovely little red! — 9 years ago
