Sometimes an older bottle just hits and wow tbh is killing it? Nose is dusty bookshelves, old books, glorious spice and some faint cherry but the story is the palate. Wow. Just perfect. Closed, cool, with muted power. Dark berry & cherry. Quite a tannic frame but juicy & polished, not aggressive as Becker’s Kammerberg.

Pop and pour. The nose...just enrapturing. Soft coffee and coconut notes, bright raspberry, ripe wild strawberry, herbal notes, savory notes...amazing complexity. On the palate, lovely acidity, a touch of bitter medicine, earth and tree bark, then red raspberry, pepper. Medium bodied, and soft but very finely grained tannin on the finish. Chilled a little over cellar temperature, notes forthcoming...

Nose has insane qualities, not sure I've ever experienced a Riesling like this, beeswax, grapefruit pith, fresh cut white grapefruit, freshly cut spring hay and faint wet limestone.

Palate is restrained, yet screaming acidity, pulverized SweeTARTS, honey poured over citrus pith, limestone dust and faint white flowers.

Holy crap this is good!

This Scheu is excellent. Some kind of a cross of Riesling and a wild vine by Georg Scheu in 1916 hence the name. Highly aromatic but more green than a Riesling less depth and build more for easy drinking even for this wine coming from old vines. Tastes a little bit like a Sauvignon Blanc. Passionfruit, hint of Pyrazines aka Grapefruit found in the New Zealand Savs’s. 🍋 Lemon. 12%. — 9 months ago

Nose is lovely herbal. Lemon peel. Quite distinctive.

Palate is lovely sweet lemons. Mineral. Really delicious. Wow.

What a nose. Huge minerals, herbs, vanilla extract, flowers. Really herbal and perfumed. Also some sort of tree bark and tonic aromas. Huge intense palate with that 21 edge. Salty, crunchy and intense. Long and pure. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Concentration. So juicy and long. Elegant. So pure. Refreshing. Salty. So so long. The finish is so good. — 3 years ago

Almost 2 years since I’ve had this. What a wine. Gorgeous nose of herbal vegetables that are so so fresh. Dynamic mineralIty on the nose with also a hint of fat. Palate is elegant and mineral with wonderful juiciness and a haunting opulent yet undeniably fresh texture. Age has really helped this be fully expressive. Great balance and purity. — 5 years ago

Very Burgundy in style with strawberries & cream + a touch of herbs. Nice mouthfeel with polished tannins and red fruit, juicy acidity. Very nice balance with a lingering finish. This is much bette than expected, Pommard Village quality for a fraction of the price. — 6 years ago

Wow, an absolutely glorious btl of wine. On the.nose: soft cola, blueberry, wild strawberry, a hint of young coconut, fantastic spice, freshly cut savory herbs...stunning nose. On the palate: fantastic acidity, crushed herbs, wild strawberry, crushed seeds, spice...soft tannin on the fantastically elegant finish. Young, but so much complexity and elegance. Nose is herbal and gorgeous with huge minerality. Lovely sugar snap peas, some C.K. Some confectionary aromas and just a beguiling whirlwind of so many non fruit aromas it’s hard to pinpoint them. A feral element as well but is so clean, so pure. It smells like the cleanest nature scene you can imagine. Yes it smells like a Bob Ross painting. Juicy and very complex with just a waterfall washing feeling across the palate. The balance of the fruit, minerals, acid and texture is extraordinary. Such delineation and grace.
