Cantine del Notaio

L'Atto Aglianico 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

This Aglianico opens with masses of crushed blackberries, sweet spice, and dusty minerals with unreal depth. Creamy textures flood the senses with ripe black fruits, stimulating acidity, saline-minerals and slow-mounting tannins. Finishes sweet and savory, with a bit of tannic heft. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous March 2020) — 6 years ago

Château Pavie Macquin

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

The Pavie flagship may get all the love but this Macquin is extraordinary! This may have the most intriguing sultry nose of any wine I’ve opened this year—crushed violets, burnt cedar chips and granite with a dash of garrigue. My actual nose actually touched the wine and got wet, that’s how drawn I was to the bouquet. But this Bordeaux was a a great deal more than mere aromatics.....dark full viscosity waves mark the sides of the glass, the oak is there but it melds very harmoniously with the black cherry, blackberry compote, stewed fig and damp earth flavor flood. Very lush, undeniably elegant and so smooth and satisfying. I’m enjoying this tonight and I know this is my first post in a while but I’m still alive....I hope to catch up with my @Delectablewine Delectablewine wine fam and post all the wines in my photo queue soon. Cheers 🥂 — 7 years ago

Yes @Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher Bum a couple hours...but didn’t even try it before the decant. But I’d guess it needs it.

Arbois Pupillin Chardonnay 2007

This, is remarkable wine. Your instantly captured by the aromatics; an amalgam of smokey, tangy, and tertiary sensations. Your struck with a snap of minerality, then a flood of rich, viscous, nutty flavors follow. You sit back and savor the mouth filling finish that seems to last forever. Thrilling .

Pettenthal Riesling 2015

Suffered from the spicy chicken that was served at the same time... so it complexity got lost in the flood...
But the telltale piercing minerality and supporting acidity survived! 🙂

Bersano

Nirvasco Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

I hit this at the right time. Straight forward Barolo style. Purity and character of Nebbiolo shows from start to finish. Shimmering red garnet color with dried cranberries, dozens of freshly cut roses, potpourri, pipe tobacco, and lively earth tonalities of pine bark, tar, and mulch on the nose. Savory expressions of balsamic and fresh red ruby grapefruit flood the palate. Tannins starting to become leathery. Already showing elegance and balance. 2010's give you that classic and traditional sense of Barolo. Cheers to Friday! And, may Chris Cornell Rest In Peace 🎸 — 9 years ago

Chateau Montelena

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

Excellent, excellent montelena. This wine was subject to a flood during Hurricane Sandy but has held up very well. Really delicious example of Napa cab made in an old school style. Can’t imagine a better pairing for a steak. — 6 years ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Cask 23 Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1993

Looks like the 4th of July fireworks came a week late! Wet leather, tobacco, macerated cherries, fresh terricherry peppercorns sububtly roll up on your nose. Ripe black plums, Blackberries, cedar, baking spices, and dark cocoa flood through your mouth. Terrific finish full of life and lasts for a good 2 minutes. Dark ruby color, mouthwatering acidity, smooth tannins, so well balanced. such a treat. Have had a few bottles of early 1990’s cask 23, but all have been fairly disappointing until this bottle. Just superb. Daughter described it as vibrant. It's an exotic party in your mouth. Apricot, peaches and nectarines flood the senses. Somebody out there (with a palette) please try this vintage so I can calibrate my rating. — 8 years ago

The Erratic is a blend of 46% Mourvèdre, 45% Syrah and 9% Grenache. On the nose, ripe red and dark sweet fruits, bandaid, black licorice, green notes, sweet spice and fresh dark florals. On the palate; spice infused fruits of; blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, blue fruits & strawberries. Crushed minerals, dry stones, violets & dark red florals, black cherry cola, mouthwatering acidity and rich, long, polished finished.
