The Busardières vineyard (soil of calcareous clay on top of tuffeau) is located high up in the hills of the Bourgueil appelation, protected from cold northern wind by a huge forest on top of the hill. Big dark cherry and plum Jose with ripe Syrah perfume. A little over the top with notes of cherry ludens and mint coming on. Layered, a bit of funk. 13' Just another can't miss Ojai! Please let it open up in the glass for 30 minutes. I wasn't expecting this much oak on the palate ,for recently visited Ojai chards. White peach, lightly salted buttered popcorn, wet stone, The acidity is beautifully structured through the wine. I don't think it's as balanced as the Solomon Hills 13'(just different) … amazing for a $35 wine. I truly believe this winery ,for the money ,is one of the top 10 in all of California! — 9 years ago
