Anne Claude Leflaive

Clau de Nell Anjou Grolleau 2011

9.1

Leflaive x Grolleau. Super interesting. Unlike any Grolleau I've ever had. Not grape-ey or beaujolais-like, but firm, tannic, and (most likely) age-worthy. It's probably not worth $50 retail but is the best and most shining example of its kind. #decantthis #leflaive — 10 years ago

Jean-Jacques Confuron

Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1989

J J Confuron. Always been a producer I've been fond of. Yes, maybe a bit more forward in style, but a house I trust. First chance to try something with age, and it didn't not disappoint. Amazing earth and hen of the woods style notes. Someone called the 'sock-ey' but I wouldn't go so far. The reamed more of Mother Nature than the man who inhabits her. Would have preferred the bottle for full analysis, but a fun few ounce tastes nonetheless. — 12 years ago

Faro Lambic

Candied apricot and brown sugar with a Long Island iced tea subtlety in the nostrils. Lively mouthfeel, Maple-ey sour apricot iodine frizzle. Rich, and shaking its faro booty all over creation. — 10 years ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend 2006

What a gorgeous wine.. Fresh, clean and focussed, yet unctuous and complex. Honey, tropical notes, caramel, spice and herbs. Very mineral, leaves a saline, clay-ey, gravel-like nuance in the finish. No signs of oxidation. 93/100 — 11 years ago
