Morillon vom Opok
Biodynamic Chardonnay from Steiermark.
Cloudy, smokey, yeasty, sappy, fresh!
Bruised apples, ripe lemons, underripe pineapple, green mango. Plus some hay, flinty, smokey aromas. Juicy, fresh, enticing.
On the palate with vibrant acidity, with great freshness & depth. Rough around the edges, with a touch of cidery notes, a bit of VA. There’s a creamy touch to the mouthfeel. And a mineral hint. This is ultra drinkable and so delicious. Love it! — 2 years ago

Good varietal characteristics of red fruit and noticeable spice. Cardamom, white pepper- medium bodied and good acidity. Enjoyed. — 7 months ago

Lucky to taste the 2009 against the 2016 vintage, both excellent, but age beats beauty! — 7 months ago
Delicious fruity zin that’s holding up beautifully. A bit of oxidation although no pronounced off aroma or palette. Remarkable how this rich ripe wine has consistently delivered fruit and supple tannins after 10+ years. Tribute to Mr. Scherrer. — a year ago

Enjoyed this one. Had the 2022 in April of 2024. Paired with homemade cheesy spaetzle and basically chicken schnitzel. Some lemon and minerality. Some pear and spice. Paired incredibly well and plan to buy more of this for summer deck sipping! — 23 days ago
