WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!

Another surprise of the night for me. I’ve only had their Syrahs before. Lots of crushed potpourri and underripe red fruit on the nose with a darker palate of violets, black cherry and plum. I need to get some of these. Awesome bottle,

Drank 7/12/18. Tasing event.

Tar and black fruit on the nose. Flavors of big jammy red fruit with some blueberry mixed in. Some tannins on the fruit driven finish

3/24/6/3/3 +50 = 89 pts.

Needs a nice steak to mix with the jamminess

Horizon Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Great balance between the yeasty, nutty aromas and apple, mineral notes. Super fine bubbles, creamy texture followed by a precise acidity that cleans everything up perfectly. Thinking I'll need a magnum of this for New Years... — 10 years ago

Casanova di Neri

Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2005

Nestled between stellar vintages (2004 & 2006) is this 2005 star. I was able to find discounted at Sam's Club! Like all Brunello's, you must decant for at least 30 minutes. Once you do, the consistently 90+ rated pedigree emerges that will make an event or evening more memorable. There are more expensive Italian wines, but a bottle of Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova has never disappointed. Cheers! — 10 years ago

WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!

The most Burgundian styled Pinot of the night. I thought it was fantastic, and still has another few years to get even better. No candied notes, more underripe red fruit (cherry and rhubarb), potpourri, graphite on the nose. Acidity is great. Not quite lean, but not a fruit bomb Pinot. Sage and herbal. Awesome,

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2004

Lovely deep fruit. Very intense and coiled steel with buckets of minerality and drive. There’s a whiff of stewed apple here. I see premox on the horizon, but this is fun now. Should be better in 5 years but certainly not this bottle. — 7 years ago

WNH event number two. Rhône varietal wines with TX BBQ...a match made in Heaven!

Another leftover bottle from last night’s Italian theme. Obviously super young, but in the name of research, it was fun to see how this tastes...this is a big and structured Tig. Almost bruising right now. Toes the line between underripe and herbal and fruit forward in style. There is mocha, fig, cocoa dusted bay leaf, and blackberries on the nose. Big on the palate with more dark cocoa shavings, a rich black cherry liqueur and a unique licorice and oregano finish. Give this some time before it becomes a knockout. Thanks for bringing
