100% Nerello Mascalese. Light garnet (see through) color. Intensely smoky at first sniff that quickly blows off. Additional aromas of red berries, dried rose petals and orange zest. Flavors of strawberry, raspberry, baking spices, fresh herbs and ginger. Noticeable mineral note on the long finish. Crisp acidity, low tannins and medium-minus body. Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. — 9 years ago
