Outstanding reserva Pinot Bianco that has been oaked and aged a bit, allowing it to develop a much more refined, complex character. Aromas of dried apricot, citrus peel, Asian pear, vanilla, caramel, and dolomitic minerals. Showing the grapes potential when treated more like Chardonnay and less like cheap Veneto whites. — 2 years ago
Another pinot nero from Ciro at Le Volpe e l’uva...and another winner. Has more depth to the palate than previous ones we’ve had from the latest shipment, this went amazingly well with Vanessa’s turkey bolognese over fresh egg fettucini. Yum. — 6 years ago

This is Englar's 2020 riserva Baltasius. Honestly, this smells like the grapes were harvested during a forest fire, but reading the vintage notes it was anything but with lots of rain. I like funky, earthy wines, so I appreciate this but others may not. Smokiness leaves the glass over time, giving way to an herbal, woody bouquet overlaying black cherry, dolostone, and eucalyptus.
Pinot should be memorable and this excels at that. Good body on this but still reflects Sudtirol's cool climate. — 2 years ago
