NV | I am not thát fond about PX but this Lustau blew me away. Luscious smell, multi layered with dates and currants, very vibrant and elegant. Super nerdy producer who revives ancient (and often unnamed, such as in this case) Friuli varieties for production. This was medium + bodied with very slightly cooked red and black fruit, dried herb, smoky charcoal and wet concrete aromas and flavors. Medium tannins and medium-high acid create a structure that shows best with food (grilled duck leg quarters tonight). More substantial that I expected, and while I would have guessed this was Italian had I had it blind, I wouldn’t have had any idea which variety it was.
