Mayu

Elqui Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Peaches and pears, with some flowers and just a little grapefruit. Nice balance of acidity and fruit. This has some similarities to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but less grapefruit and less citrus overall. But still enough acidity. — 6 years ago

Tabalí

Talinay Coastal Limestone Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

Sticking with the pinot's I have opened the 2013 Tabali Talinay Coastal Limestone Vineyard Pinot Noir from Chile.

On the nose there are beautiful fruit and complex notes of cherry, cranberry, raspberry, floral notes of violet, vanilla, light oak and an earthy component.

On the palate a wonderful notes of cranberry, raspberry, cherry, forest soil and a bit of minerality.

This is a medium bodied wine with medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that leads to a lovely long crisp finish with good fruit right to the end. It just doesn't seem to want to quit and it will carry you right into the next sip. I am totally into this wine and may have to go and purchase a few more bottles. Have a wonderful rest of your week and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Reserva Legado Chardonnay 2014

Tasted 13/08/2016

Clean, authentic, fresh and vibrant Chardonnay of Limarí Valley, 50% aged in used oak for 9 months.

Intense lemon color, straw glitters.
Charming bouquet of melon, biscuits, soaked apple, pineapple, peach, grass. Nutty nuances and white flowers. Minty whiff.
Palate is crisp, concentrated and textured. Medium+ body, distinctive minerality and pronounced acidity. Pomelo, white currant, rhubarb, green apple, pineapple flavors.
Tangy long lasting finish of green apple & lime, touched by sea minerals.
Perfectly suited seabass baked with herbs and olives.

Payen Limarí Valley Syrah 2010

P A
9.5

Saving the best for last from our friend’s personal collection this 💯 % balanced Chilean Syrah exceeds expectations. Big, smooth loaded with black and blueberries, tastes of burnt wooden matches, hints of vanilla, exotic spices finishes with wonderfully long and layered lingering legs. — 4 years ago

Easy wine. Nat.B. Good for a casual summer evening. Buy again better than the normal stuff they have — 5 years ago

Tabalí

Vetas Blancas Reserva Especial Chardonnay

Some lovely minerality and lemon on the front. Some roundness but not to rich. This is a fantastic Fall white. A lot of barely ripe peach and lemon makes this just bracing enough without being to edgy. Love it — 7 years ago

— 8 years ago

Viñedos de Alcohuaz

Grus de Alcohuaz 2015

Mezcla tina, or “Red Blend”
Syrah dominant, a helluva barnyard nose!
Heavier bodied, with bits of blueberry and apple skins, some sweet grass, tobacco, aged perfectly, (I got lucky), with the tannins complementing the star fruit acidity.
50% Syrah, 14% Petite Syrah, 26% Garnacha, 10% Petit Verdot.
100% Yum.

This is the first red wine I have had from this area, usually known for Pisco production.

De Martino

Single Vineyard Alto Los Toros Elqui Valley Syrah 2011

Nice Syrah! Violet with slightly orange edge. Very interesting nose, at first it has lots of mature red fruit, then it changed to a very meaty profile, also dried prunes, and violets. Medium acidity and low astringency but good permanency and nice aftertaste. De Martino is without a doubt one of my favorite Chilean producers. — 5 years ago

Tabalí

Reserva Especial Limari Valley Chardonnay 2012

Fresh and racy approach to Chardonnay which could use a little more creaminess to carry it through the finish as it falls a bit short. Otherwise nice stuff. — 7 years ago
