2 nights in a row.

Santa Claud sings jazz to you in a small bar in Normandy, and you're cold but ruddy. Is this stand up or true mirth? It's the holiday you imagine in a bar near Skid Row in Downtown LA when you take a sip of this and are transported by a northern bite to your tongue. Irony or sincerity--it's so fresh but so sweet! I could go for more fizz, but one only feels permitted to request such things when engulfed by luxury — 8 years ago

Absolutely delicious, 12 years later! Leather, chocolate-covered cherries, tobacco, oriental spices. Flavors of mouth-filling fruits and gripping tannins. Second day in a row I've had "textbook" examples of classic wines at reasonable prices: — 9 years ago
Whats funny about this wine is it will always remind me of such a great night out on vacation at The Four Seasons in SB. So, I don't remember specifics, j just know I liked it and what it contributed to such a nice dinner. — 9 years ago
Ok Delectable, this is the second day in a row you don't recognize my wine! Who the f-k is Agostini Petri, can anyone enlighten me? Please. Anyhow in my glass I have a beautiful wine, 1997 Castello Vicchiomaggio La Prima Chianti Classico Riserva, bottled by John Matta. Initially I found myself in Cht9, with dry, sandy tannins but the aftertaste was more like a full-bodied Bordeaux. This is a mature wine, full of dark fruit and cherries, smoked meats, good grip of tannins and acidity that provides a back-bone. Just wish I had lots and lots of bottles in my cellar. Should keep on aging beautifully many more years to come. — 10 years ago
More advanced than I thought it would be, 2 bottles in a row — 7 years ago
The third vintage I had in a row. Definitely typical of a cooler vintage. High acidity, earthy funk as always. Tomato sauce, tart reds, and orange/lemon peel on the finish. Less than expected licorice/anise. High coarse tannins and medium (plus?) body. — 7 years ago
Bullied into drinking wine for a second night in a row. "you need to prepare your liver!" Then again, it's good... 😊 — 8 years ago
I've written about this wine before. Ron's wines never cease to amaze me. Uncorked and poured, at 1st glance it seemed extremely closed and unforgiving BUT give it 30 minutes and it blows up!!!! Lush dark fruit, some leather and on the back palate a touch chocolate. This is drinking like a badass rockstar., Big, bold & unapologetic but has a touch of class that seduces you into taking another sip....at which point the roller coaster starts all over again. Outstanding!! Just what I love in a Napa cab!! Buying a case is like having front row seats., you won't be disappointed!! 👌🍷🍷👌@Andrew Donovan @Megan Callahan — 9 years ago
Best Rose at The Adelaide Hills Wine Show. Congrats Larry for the second year in a row. — 9 years ago
One of the best Champagnes I've ever tasted and at a good value Wine & Spirits Magazine named it Value Brand if the Year. 3 years in a row. I would definitely buy again. — 10 years ago
Oh my lord. What an extremely balanced, smooth wine. The aroma/nose is perfect, youthful fruits and berries, oak; but the taste is where it's really at. Sublime, smooth, nothing prominent, nothing hidden, all of them sitting in a equal row, like an extremely high end pair of headphones, nearly clinical. High alcohol content, low viscosity, translucent ruby color, presence of gas. What an absolutely incredible wine -- and it's from California!!! — 7 years ago
SLH without too much explanation is a premier site for Pinot Noir and Chard. But like Napa/Sonoma and Santa Barbara the similar theme is we're finding more grape varietals to diversify ourselves because of how great our weather is and generally our love of many options. Roar is a local leader of quality wines, if you're looking for an SLH example of the good stuff.. here you go.
Went on a cool personal tour of some vineyards at the winery and tried some wine after. This is a newer vineyard for them, high elevation grown Viognier (10 years). Keep in mind this is a foggy climate versus most other Viognier climates. Rich peaches outweigh the honeydew melon fruit for an ideal balance of fruit I'd prefer. I think an edge to this wine is some minerality I usually find clouded from old world veen. Also out here we're in our 2nd or 3rd year in a row of very cold summers and cold spring/fall. It's really what I imagine Seattle to be because most days I just get overcast with my beach view😂 I look forward to a very warm SLH year; this will wake up the locals. — 8 years ago
Blind tasted this guy in a row of three Burgundies. Ow ow! Poopy af nose with smoke and earth funk. Palate was charmingly silky - tannins were not obnoxious, even without decanting. I assumed this was older than it was just based on the non-fruit profile. — 8 years ago
Plummy notes on nose and sweetish palate. From a 60 year old patch of Mataro (Mourvèdre) in Willunga, McLaren Vale. Medium to full bodied. A delicious fruit driven wine with little oak influence. Still years to go. 2009 vintage. — 9 years ago

Reminds me of raspberries, super smooth, medium red wine. I enjoyed this three nights in a row! — 6 years ago
