1st wine of 2021....had to pop something fun....jumped in the pond with the frog tonight!!
1.5 hour decant(little cloudy sediment). An alluring purplish magenta color. On the nose: expressive nose of dark cherry, campfire smoke, little Cayuse funk (luv it), vanilla toast, meaty, plum, floral. Taste: Wow! elegant, rich, juicy wine with mouth coating dark plum, bacon fat, soil, iron, and a smokey minerally cherry long finish. YUM, great start to the new year. — 4 years ago
Had a nice crispness you’d expect from SavBlanc and a more interesting barnyard flavor, paired with vanilla and a hint of straw. Enjoyable and a good wine to start the evening with. — 5 years ago
From TJs DC. Surprisingly good Pinot Noir. — 5 years ago
STWC. Sweet Black fruit and cassis aroma. Strong Ribena and blackcurrant ice cream on tip of tongue very bold tannins. Not subtle but I love this. Wonder if it ages? — 5 years ago
Very good Pinot — 7 years ago
Lighter in color for a 2019, more of a medium ruby. Nose is cherry pie, not tart cherries but sweet black cherry. A bit of dust and a lot of cedar chest. Great structure, smooth tannins, and medium to full-bodied. The lighter color fooled me into thinking this would be a lighter cab, but it packs plenty of punch. The finish lingers especially pumping those cedar notes throughout. — 3 years ago
Deep purple without a hint of any other suggesting improper storage. Classic if a bit understated Napa nose. Soft yet appropriately firm tannins. Ripe black fruits. Luscious wine. Suggest drinking sooner rather than later owing to fruit ripeness. — 4 years ago
Really delicious on a very hot day. Very drinkable. Notes of apricot, melon, greenery, and orange blossom — 5 years ago
First time having this one, its a very nice bottle.
Stats, $225.00 release, $75.00 on K&L sale makes it even better!
And finally, there’s The Vow, which in this observer’s opinion is the marquee offering of the ’14 Gravel Series. Sourced from a narrow strip of rocky soil that runs through the South East corner of Round Pond’s Rutherford vineyard, T — 5 years ago
I'm a sucker for this duck — 7 years ago
Definitely on the sweeter side. Could be too sweet depending on the person. Would by again from Duck Walk — 4 years ago
Delicious! Jammy, not overly acidic — 4 years ago
Strong minerality, mild fruitiness — 4 years ago
This was quite flavorful and interesting. It had some jam, blackberry, hints of leather and smoke. It had a nice mouthfeel and a medium finish. All in all this was the standout of the night, but still young. — 5 years ago

Yes, a little hint of blueberry on the finish. — 6 years ago
Works well with shrimp and spaetzle. Nice fruit and crisp acidity to pair with a buttery dish. — 8 years ago

The 3rd and final bottle of the 11’ vintage (a underestimated vintage IMO), and it keeps getting better. The slight green note from the previous 2 bottles is no longer present. At a great place now. While it does not have the usual richness and power, it’s impeccably balanced, fresh, seamless, and graceful, which is preferable to me.
And I can’t thinking of a better bottle to pair with Pekin duck.
Almost perfect!
