1994 Screaming Eagle. Dinner at C's while B&M S and DS were visiting. Biggest wine of the three tonight- '93 Leroy and '90 Lafite. Juicy, ripe red fruit- absolutely perfect. Very big flavors, but so silky and smooth, with a long, velevety finish. Everyone loved. — 9 years ago

3L 2001 Falletto Di Serralunga D'Alba Barolo brought by K. Drank at holiday Nobu dinner alongside the 3L 2000 Falletto Asili Di Barbaresco, brought by DS. I preferred this wine to the Asili. John Br. agreed and thought that while it might not be as good in the longer term, it was drinking better now. We thought the Asili Barbaresco was a bit harsh and big. K preferred the Asili though. — 10 years ago

Magnum 1985 Sassicaia. Drank at Factory Kitchen w A&C, J &J D, and DS. Large format was great for a large group. We really enjoyed this wine- it was as epic as we had hoped. Lush and fruitful and velvety. Great. — 11 years ago

9L 1993 Bryant Family Pritchard Hill CS. DS birthday. Cab flight alongside '84Ridge Monte Bello. Hard to pick a fave, but this was slightly bigger and more rich. Maybe favored by a hair. — 9 years ago

1993 Leroy Clos de Vougeot burgundy. Dinner at C's while B&M S and DS were visiting. Excellent. Decanted just before serving and not sure if we got a funky bottle, but it didn't live up to our hopes. K had never had this wine before. K: not great fruit, short finish, more austere than expected- especially from '93. We think it was the bottle that was funky :( — 9 years ago

3L Pierre Yves Colin Morey Les Perrieres Mersault. Bday dinner at Tap. Double-decanted it. JW and DS thought it might have been corked. Slightly better after decanting twice. Still had that wet dog, musty smell to it. Was much better the next day at lunch. Much more drinkable at lunch and peeps enjoyed it then. Believed this would be better in the longer term, while I thought the Barolo was drinking better now. — 10 years ago

2001 Case Basse do Gianfranco Soldera Riserva Brunello. Drank at Toscana w DS, J, and K. Interesting to drink after the 1996 Musigny. Much bigger, higher acid. Big food wine. We love this. — 10 years ago
