In der Nase sehr Balsamisch, Noten von Sojasauce und Liebstöckel sowie Brombeeren. Warm und weich am Gaumen, feine Frucht und elegantes, würziges Tannin. — 11 years ago
Work with my cousin in wine section at our family Grocery store. It's been sitting in our wine room for a while gave it to me to taste if it was turned. Got a beautiful 9 year old bottle that was perfect loved every drop!!! — 11 years ago

90/100 This region is for me definitely. This is not as hedonistically upfront as the Cloudy Bay, more subtle but presents a better finish. You do however have to reach further for the nose.
Loads of tropical citrus, lime, pineapple, gooseberry, grapefruit as you would expect, though lots more on the palate than in the nose. Excellent mouthfeel, here it wins.
The finish is linear, no drop off and so scores the same as CB but a different experience.

Oh the purity! This wine has it all - a fine bead, a dazzling hawthorne and acacia aroma tinged with lemon drop that just jumps out of the glass, bracing acidity, flinty depth and a luscious lemon curd finish. Here is vintnervwho is as skillful a vignette as he is a grower. It's beautiful to behold, a classic Blanc de blancs — 11 years ago
Decanted for 2 hours. VHR rewards you for the wait. Color is light suggesting a simple body. Body is tall and complex. I savored every drop. A treat. — 11 years ago
Three years and I finished it! I fucking rock! Yeah... Not for lightweights... — 13 years ago
Very smooth, slightly peppery but no bite. Having with Mexican and it pairs fabulously. — 10 years ago
Wow In a flight of chateau montelena and caymus 85s this drop kicked them out of the room. Hints of Brett but adds to the complexity of black olive, camphor, Dried fruits and herbs. Patrick Campbell made so many great wines and does not get enough credit this wine sings, bravo. — 10 years ago
The wine that gets better every vintage. Confections abound when popped and poured and then it settles into its floral/nutty/honey aromas beautifully. All of this framed by a slab of limestone. Also a verbena/green tea aroma adds complexity. Unbelievable texture. So silky and soft yet buffered by a taut spine of acidity that is so well integrated it only reveals itself on the finish. Great concentration Long finish with honey, tangerines and minerals. What finesse and sophistication here. Drop dead. — 10 years ago

To quote my brother in law, "That's a whole lotta Christmas in a glass!" Flavorfully spiced but balanced and light enough that buying a magnum makes sense! — 11 years ago
This is the Porter I ever had many years ago, still one of the best, and still one of my favorites, second only to Stone Smoked Vanilla Porter — 12 years ago
