As expected, not as much fruit as the 2010 but still silky and balanced with a long, complex finish. — 10 years ago

1995 Dom. Laurent NSG Les Vaucrains - The wine is showing beautifully. Still a bunch of primary notes, harmoniously integrated with some secondary tones. — 10 years ago

Give this one a little time. But it may be THE (or one of certainly) benchmark wines for the appellation. — 10 years ago
Proves the old adage that in an off vintage, go for the Vintner. Terrific and now is the window ! — 11 years ago

Next up is Volnay. Village-level from Giroud. This bottle makes me amazed at how the color of wine from the same grape can vary so much between nearby villages. This wine is bright red (like diluted oxygenized blood) and although the nose is full of typical PN notes of warm strawberries and raspberries, some forest and stable aromas, and new oak - it has de/light/ful freshness and flowery perfumed scent and aftertaste. Tannins are silky and small and acid level skyhigh and fresh. Perhaps a little too much oak for my taste but a very nice experience. The wine complemented quite well the assortment of italian sausages and kaltbach cheese. Freddy Kempf -- on a long Steinway sounding off Busoni's arrangement of Bach's Chaconne -- tied the knot of a perfect cellar moment. Cheers! — 10 years ago
