Soft tannins. No sign of oak. Sensing carbonic maceration as this wine reminds me of a young Beaujolais. Quite fresh and bright. Named for the winemaker. Can handle a chill. Sublime. I’m biased but it is probably the best example of merlot on the central coast. Tiny yield from a small vineyard planted on steep grade. Cherries, dark chocolate and muted green herbal pepper notes. Alleged Petrus clonal material, the result is world class and is hard to outshine domestically. — 4 years ago

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Very dry on the palate with citrus, apples, light oak, spices, almonds, grapefruits, earth and herbs.

Easy drinking and a good quality wine. Showing nice complexity, crisp and refreshing.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food.
