Nose is classic with green apple skins, some phyllo dough, spice and nice minerals. Uncomplicated but gorgeous in its effect. Palate is juicy and plump. Good freshness and texture. Sneaky length and very pure. I won’t sell it but it’s something I’d love to pour BTG if I had a restaurant. Nice lime zest and mineral finish and has real good mid palate density. — 5 months ago

In a glorious place. So elegant. More to come. Wet earth and deep red cherries on the nose on a background slab of minerals. Complex spice as well. Palate is so juicy and generous. Luscious, deep fruit with suave, velvety tannins and unreal density without weight. Such a mineral finish. After 16 hours open it’s so juicy, silky and downright decadent. 19 has amazing fruit. — 8 months ago

Wow, Meursault I already ❤️ thee, but this is next level.

This is the best wine William has ever made. I am blown away. Holy shit this is a new level for “The Kid.” Outrageous nose of late season red and black cherry fruit but what really stands out here is the absolute clarity. Wow it smells like God’s jelly donut. Unreal 9.8 almost a 9.9 nose. I am not joking. The depth and purity of the aromas is off the charts. Under all that fruit is stones. Those Pommars stones. Like a Pommard rolling stone. Wow. Just sick. There’s spice and herbals. My goodness this is elite. This is just incredible work. The palate is just a knockout. The ultimate power without weight but also with the ultra concentrated tiny berry intensity that comes from the best grapes on the best bunches on the best vines. Just incredible. Elegance and just incredible power and never never heavy. The tannins are ripe and fierce. Chewy and dense. It’s early but this is ridiculous. 9.7 for now. But it will go up. Oh wow the fruit is so sweet. Extraordinary length and freshness. — 5 months ago

Bu sur + de 3 heures, aération en carafe à l’ouverture. Arômes de fruits noirs, cerises, assez végétal. Belle couleur rubis! La carafe lui a fait un grand bien malgré ses 15 ans. Bien que le 1er verre m’a donné une légère incertitude mais le tout c’est replacé rapidment et le vin est tout simplement magnifique!

En bouche, il y a de la matière, belle acidité qui garde la structure du vin. En bouche, la mure, l cerises noires, un peu végétale, boîte à cigare. Tres long en bouche. Wow! — 3 years ago

The aromatics are of lemon zest, some butter, a touch smokey and flinty and some ripe orchard fruit. Good acidity but dominated slightly by a certain richness and ripeness, a little more then usual and probably due to the warmer vintage. Nice, but not the better Droin bottle I had. 89-90

The most storied houses of Catalan often show the best value (opposite is the case in Champagne). It’s like they’ve been in the game long enough to know how to most efficiently make great sparkling wine. Raventos (like the Mure wines from Alsace) is one of these houses.

Stunning. What an insane nose. Candied mid to late season cherries, insane spice and that classic stoney Pommard minerality. Unreal concentration but never heavy and so much depth. Waves of fruit crashing on limestone rocks. This is very very exciting wine. Only 595 bottles. Welp! Nose also has some super detailed sweet cocoa and just top top clarity. Wow that palate, those late breaking Pommard tannins and exquisitely formed fruit. This is something else. Let’s see how it performs with air. 9.6 now. Now the next day after 14+ hours open this is singing. Nose has a deep cherry perfume and wonderful spice and brooding Pommard minerals. Terrific aromatic complexity. Palate is just lights out with freshness, deep mid to late season cherry and also some early season as well. Brooding but suave stony Pommard minerality and gorgeous complexity and depth. Exquisite juiciness and balance. Long finish and so well made. Lingers forever. — 6 months ago

Nose is tight out of the gates. Some cherry cola, dustiness. Pulverized rock dust. Really quiet at the moment but I have faith. 18’s are built like brick houses. More aromas coming but all mineral. Fruit is buried here. Palate is super closed. Wow. This will need mega air. Like mega air. Huge grippy tannins and terrific fruit on the long finish. Easily a 1er Cru length finish. But this needs mega air. My score will rise. As this air the fruit expands on the palate. Massive power, depth and concentration. Exceptional length. Nose picks up a hint of licorice. 9.2 to 9.3 after 20 minutes. — 5 years ago
