Carafé et décanté 3 heures avant. Floral, fruits noirs, une bouche mure, juteuse, pleine et riche, puissant mais avec des tannins soyeux et approchables, excellent et encore un bébé presque. 93
Blind tasting lunch 2009 theme. My offering, decanted 3 hours. Flowery and black fruit notes, palate is juicy, full, rich and powerful with velvety textured tannins, nice finish, still a baby almost. — 3 years ago
The aromatics are of lemon zest, some butter, a touch smokey and flinty and some ripe orchard fruit. Good acidity but dominated slightly by a certain richness and ripeness, a little more then usual and probably due to the warmer vintage. Nice, but not the better Droin bottle I had. 89-90
— 5 years ago
The most storied houses of Catalan often show the best value (opposite is the case in Champagne). It’s like they’ve been in the game long enough to know how to most efficiently make great sparkling wine. Raventos (like the Mure wines from Alsace) is one of these houses.

Tres long en bouche. Wow! — 3 years ago

Needs 2 hours. Before then all luscious fruit.
At peak
Nose: gods blackberry perfume. Blackberries. Intoxicating. Elegant. A hint of sexy blackberries. sensual. Attacks the nostrils almost like a spice but not spicy.
Palate is clean blackberry juice. A hint of perfect cherry. The fruit here is insanely perfect. The rebourgeon style. Good intensity and palate thrust. A hint of blueberry.
I’m not getting much palate complexity at 2 hours or this would be higher.

2005. Très fondu à son apogée. Du beauvfruit très pur. Gourmand à souhait en bouche — 6 years ago
My man killed 2020. Slayed it like it was a dragon. Super nose of stone, dark red cherries, lovely earth character, some tweed jacket and all of this is presented like refined silk or velvet. Man what strides William has taken. Wow that is just the sexiest, velvet, sweet fruited Pommard one can imagine! This is so fresh, yet also lush and succulent. Wow. What texture and refinement. Williams’s tannin quality has improved so much from 19 to 20. They are so silky, sweet and finely knit. Nose starting to get more red cherries and some nice florals. He nailed this vintage. So energetic and juicy. Just so good. As it airs I’ll be back. Such freshness with air and it gets tangy. Terrific, invigorating Pommard. After 3 hours nose has dark florals. Palate is now elegant and has such deep echoing fruit. So rich yet so ethereal. Masterful. — 3 years ago
Nose has lemon zest, lemon slice, vanilla bean, crushing of flint, white wood smoke, room temperature butter, salt box and waxy yellow apple.
Palate has under-ripe pineapple, honeycomb, warm green apple, salty warm lemon, pulverized flint; concentration is amazing, finish is minutes.
Wow, Meursault I already ❤️ thee, but this is next level.
Decanted +3H, then double decanted for service tonight. — 4 years ago

Nose is tight out of the gates. Some cherry cola, dustiness. Pulverized rock dust. Really quiet at the moment but I have faith. 18’s are built like brick houses. More aromas coming but all mineral. Fruit is buried here. Palate is super closed. Wow. This will need mega air. Like mega air. Huge grippy tannins and terrific fruit on the long finish. Easily a 1er Cru length finish. But this needs mega air. My score will rise. As this air the fruit expands on the palate. Massive power, depth and concentration. Exceptional length. Nose picks up a hint of licorice. 9.2 to 9.3 after 20 minutes. — 5 years ago
Terrific nose. So fresh and pure. So so Pommard. Stones, spice, tea like aromas and deep cherry fruit. Juicy and complex with lovely fruit and purity. Fresh and ample but also energetic and linear. Delicious. Terrific volume and freshness. So pure. So clean. Amazing purity. Really impressive fruit soak on the finish. Exceptional village wine. — 6 years ago

In a glorious place. So elegant. More to come. Wet earth and deep red cherries on the nose on a background slab of minerals. Complex spice as well. Palate is so juicy and generous. Luscious, deep fruit with suave, velvety tannins and unreal density without weight. Such a mineral finish. After 16 hours open it’s so juicy, silky and downright decadent. 19 has amazing fruit. — 6 months ago
