Everyone likes a story and what hit home about this wine for me had nothing to do with the wine but had to do with him being unapologetic for who he is. His personality matches his wines, big, bold, voluptuous and completely intoxicating (in a good way). The quote that hooked me in? "Ballet lessons aren't cheap, why should my wines be?" As a parent in this business (who also pays for very expensive ballet lessons) I feel you. The wine has pronounced intensity on both the nose and palate of ripe primary fruits (red and black cherries, rhubarb, blackberries, ripe red currants) with an awesome cinnamon stick and black peppercorn notes.big and bold with great acidity, rich ripe tannins and a long finish. Total crowd pleaser, just like him! — 9 years ago
Proud parent -2002 is just opening up now. Gorgeous, more on the extracted end — 9 years ago
Let's say the grape doesn't fall far from the vine, for being the supposed pink hued parent to Sauvignon Blanc, it drinks similarly, Maybe a bit more viscous in the mouthfeel and more floral on the nose. But this is the only example I've had of this variety. Fun wine with application for food pairings. — 9 years ago

GL Burg Parent tasting 2/8/17. Nose of red fruit and ripe cherries and good body and long length and a bit of spiciness. — 7 years ago
2014 subirat parent savory, intriguing, bit of cider/sauerkraut funk — 9 years ago
This was one I absolutely loved back I 2008 or so. I could get it for $17, which for me qualifies as "special-treat level." I'd not tasted a red so light and ethereal before. It really opened my eyes. I can't find it anymore and don't know much about its longevity if I did happen upon it again. — 9 years ago
My wife went to the Boyd Vineyard last weekend on a private tour recommended by a colleague. She liked the 2010 Cab, Oak Knoll District so much, she had the vineyard ship a case home for my birthday. extremely smooth even without giving time to breathe. Not overpowered berry or other fruit, dry but without dust on the rim. You will make a good impression if you bring this to the next dinner party invite but volunteer to open on site as you may not find it again. Just returned from a business trip to my French parent company. I did not taste anything better over there. Concerned how the 2011 will fare given how that poor year is shaping up but there are exceptions, — 10 years ago

Always with the chalky terroir. Lovely. — 9 years ago
Absolutely delicious. Strong, robust like its parent vineyards and a nice compromise for price. Impressed — 9 years ago

$19 Costco Honolulu. 13.9%. Very nice flavor, no off taste, tart to start. Delicious finish, tasted like a notch above my usual $10 and under bottles. Compared to 2014 Mirassou Pinot Noir ($7, our standard), more flavor, more tart, but hard to beat our regular Pinot. I would but again and I like Duckhorn parent company. — 7 years ago
