From Fond Cypres. Nice light rose-red. Great starter of the meal or summer to fall season. — 6 years ago
House gift from Argentina part 2: a gran reserva Trapiche, quite elegant & nimble despite the 14.5%. Oak monster integrated but is in the foreground- gets better w air. Crushed red fruits, cassis edges. All in all a very smooth drinking & balanced affair. — 6 years ago

I mean, the label alone makes it a 10. A CAT BAGUETTE AND WINE?!! • SIGHT: golden with a slight peach tinge. Teeny tiny sediment. SMELL: flowers, chlorine, vegetable - asparagus maybe? Acetone? TASTE: “oh hot damn” it tastes like a baguette. Toasted yeasty freshness, like freshly baked bread (baguette!); almond paste/marzipan. Love it so muuuuch more please! — 5 years ago
Been very fond of this wine since I started drinking wine oooooh so long ago.

39 year favorite winery and wine. Enjoyed with the wagyu beef bolognese pappardelle dish. Fond memories of when we stayed at the hotel under the Hilton banner. — 8 years ago
Nice, minerally, melon, not too sweet — 5 years ago
Whatever words I would use to describe how amazing the 96 was with our Prime Rib Roast last night would simply fall short & never do it justice.
The evolution that took place in this bottle after 21 years was never conceived by anyone tasting it upon release or young. It has made a epic leap and simply heaven on the palate.
Oh...as a friend of mine was always fond of saying...”The Prime Rib Roast didn’t suck either!”
I wanna do this again real soon. OMG!!!
Still processes me this morning.

Celui ci il te colle un uppercuts direct en pleine tronche! Très puissant, presque trop, faut le laisser s’assagir quelques années de plus car le fond est superbe — 7 years ago
Having visited the vineyard, I have fond memories whenever I enjoy Vrede en Lust wines, but this one is such a pleasure to enjoy. Smooth with a South African twist! Love it! — 9 years ago

2021/4 with roast pheasant breast with pheasant fond, truffle butter and cabbage. As seems to happen with reds from my (overly cold?) cellar, this still seemed to be emerging from adolescence - not quite what most would expect from a 14+ year Chalonnaise wine. Then again, I’ve always found the 2006 reds from Burgundy to be a little blocky, and little blowsy. Still, this was tasty and had hints of emerging complexity. It also still had the price tag on it, and I marveled again that de Villaine has barely raised prices in well over a decade (the recent, pricier line of 1er crus being new additions to the lineup). Please, please, never change. — 5 years ago
