Semi sweet / goes down easy / nice flavor — 12 years ago
Made by an upcoming anything-goes-but-nothing-is-overdone winemaker, there is so much to like here: a cold soak to extract and maintain rich fruit, a mix of new, one-time used, and two-times used oak from Burgundy plus larger barrels to develop depth and complexity, winemaking based on the conditions of each vintage, and older-vine grapes to make up this flagship cuvée. And the wine? The acid is integrated, the tannins are silky, and the alcohol is plenty balanced (13%) so this is delicious to drink now, but it has enough structure and complexity so I want to see what happens in 5-10 years. Today it's full of a smokey tar-olives-and-ripe-blackberry aroma, which follows through on the palate but is joined by a little savory meatiness and delicate violet character. A year like 2015 allows this cuvée to show at its best. Ripe, surprisingly good acidity (my issue with some Loire '15s), texturally perfect. Not your average, one-dimensional Touraine. #vincentricard #touraine #sauvignonblanc — 9 years ago
Very light with a leathery, earthy taste — 11 years ago
2009, Domaine Vincent Ricard, Le Bouc Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine. One of my favorite producers. Very good SB, acidic with lots of citrus. Excellent with pan seared Paiche. No oak, unlike his Trois Chenes cuvée. Last of 6 bottles. Great value. — 12 years ago
