Wanted to compare two 2009 Rieslings - this from Kamptal Austria against the recently tasted Weinbach Grand Cru from Alsace This is mid Lemon in colour with more stone fruit namely peachy notes and flavours than the Alsatian Riesling both with low acid and both at their peak. Minerally gravelly notes also on the nose 2009 was an excellent vintage in Kamptal and adjoining regions along the Danube regions like Wachau. Another excellent mature Riesling at its peak. I would give the taste off to the Austrian by a nose. Thoroughly delicious. — 4 years ago
Also goes well with a boat ride down the Danube #hungary — 5 years ago

Imagine yourself drifting down the Danube River in the lower Austrian Wine region on a warm summer afternoon sipping a slightly chilled easy red wine and you will get a sense of what this wine is about. From its delightful aromatics of soft red fruits and wet stone to its clean acidity this light bodied Austrian offers just plain goodness on a cool crisp Canadian night. Cheers 🍷 — 6 years ago

Purchased at the winery during visit in 2015. Wine is classified as Federspiel (between 11.5% and 12.5% ABV), which generally connotes wines that are dry, medium bodied and well balanced. This Gruner is from the Kollmitz vineyard (steep terraced slopes with Danube gravel soil) and is bottled at 12.0% ABV. Pepper and flint on the nose. Green apple and pear fruit, white pepper and smoke, with minerality which shines through. Nice acidity. — 4 years ago
Tart. Fairly thin. Not too full bodied. Dave doesnt know how he feels about it bc of mountain dew — 4 years ago
Final wine for Danube cruise. Still surprisingly youthful and fresh tasting considering the vintage and age. Dark fruits tobacco earth and firm texture and good length. Good value for Americans on a French River cruise boat in Austria. — 5 years ago
Sweet red, very drinkable 👍🏻 — 5 years ago
