Slightly sweet Grenache — 6 years ago
Not too hoppy and not too much malt. Very nice! — 7 years ago
Popped it with a burger at lunch. Before wine opening up had nose of red fruits and slight smell of green pepper. Bright and tasty. Came back to it 5 hours later for a steak dinner. Became a little more black fruit with slight graphite and dust. Got better with a little air. — 9 years ago
Great value. Blackberry and white pepper. Delicious. — 9 years ago
Catalonia Spain
Surdyk's Staff Selection (Noelle Starr): The non-vintage Brut Reserve, made from indigenous Spanish grapes, undergoes second fermentation in the bottle, is aged for 15 months, and is a fantastic value – even at full price. Aromatic and elegant, there are notes of citrus, Asian pear, hints of flower and a touch of biscuit. The finish is dry and refreshing. Thoughts: start by using a regular wine glas, as a bigger bowl helps bring the aromatics front and center. Pair with anything salty (potato chips), creamy (brie smeared on a fresh baguette), or crunchy (fried chicken is especially good.) Pairs wonderfully with Blue Earth, a delicious brie-style cheese from Mankato, MN
Surdyks Spring 2015 Sale - $7.99 (compare at $11.99). Great with Sticky Chicken — 9 years ago
Just got better and better with more oxygen! Decanted and should have let sit longer as the aromatics really intensified showing licorice and leather on the nose. — 5 years ago
2009 is perfect! And, I love these tiny bottles! — 6 years ago
The 2011 is drinking funky right now. Funky in a good way. Color is a dark purple but the flavor is red fruits. Lots of fun acidity, not a lot of tannins. — 8 years ago
Good wine in a great place right now! Great density. Tasted the 10, 11, and the 12 with Ms Cakebread in our recent trip. I think she was surprised we didn't like the 12. Parker gave this one a 93, which I shockingly agree with. I think this wine has incredible depth and density, but it was ready to go at pop and pour without any decanting needed. I don't think this is too age worthy, which is shocking given its AVA. FWIW, it seems Crocker&Starr and Paradigm Francs are just better "built." Still this is a indisputably good wine with great acidity, fruit core, tannin, and finish. More on Cellartracker. — 9 years ago
Sharing a birthday dinner with family. Ringo Starr said he couldn’t make it. PNP and wasn’t that tight. Could have used some air but the nose and palate were just great. — 5 years ago
Nice acidity, red fruits with a little bit of smoke. — 6 years ago
Great with vegan food. — 7 years ago

One tough wine...my magnum has been driven across the US in a big moving truck and occasionally poorly cellared but after 13 years... balanced oak, cedar, blackcurrant, balanced char, slight leather, white pepper...a very classic easy-drinking cab. Great job Ken!! — 5 years ago
