Olive Garden house wine fantastic no aftertaste and the price is right!! — 8 years ago
As with all of Cowhorn's wines the 2011 Applegate Oregon Syrah 42 is a lovely thing to behold, and made lovelier still by the fact that 2011 was a difficult growing season in Oregon. What this wine conveys is terrific purity, high-toned black fruit, cinnamon bark and violets with just a touch of earthy savoriness. It's medium-bodied, and fine-boned for a Syrah. Is this to do with a cooler growing season, or is it biodynamic farming combined with the winemaker's deft hand? Probably. 13.1% ABV | Sample — 9 years ago
2004 vintage is incredible and ready. — 9 years ago
Black cherry, lively acidity, not the quality of red fruits I remember from 2006 vintage — 10 years ago
A bit light on the nose, the palate comes through with intensity, nerve, citrus fruit, floral notes, and just a bit of wet granite underneath the fruit. The acidity keeps this wine from seeming sweet, but it will cut through fatty foods beautifully without getting too edgy. Very long finish. I want to say that it seems like a good, dry spaetlese in style if not specific flavors. I wish I had left this laying down another year to develop secondary flavors and especial, aromas. — 10 years ago

I'm not usually one for Australian wine but this was more sophisticated and interesting than expected, and at a very good price point too! — 7 years ago
Ridiculously balanced, clean, ripe and smooth- all at the same time. We did a tasting here and ended with this. All before it paled. Dried apricot, grass, lemon peel, spiced pear. Heaven. — 8 years ago
Lovely sweet wine paired very well with my chicken scampi at Olive Garden. — 9 years ago
Freshness beautifully entwined with richness. Ripe pear with a pithy lemon rind edge. Great texture. Drags you back in. Great stuff — 9 years ago

Smooth. Silky. Some fruit on the finish. Not much earth. Medium body. Maybe a little hot that in time could blow off, otherwise great bottle to open and be surprised with. Drank 2013. — 7 years ago

This is a good Syrah, on the dry side. Smooth, and a bit chalky. Reminds me of a Rhone blend. Good value too. — 8 years ago
Really fun, different and interesting. Fruit and spice you would expect, but also more earthy notes. One of my fav zins from the trip. — 9 years ago
Cherry on the nose, black current on the front palate, oak on the back palate. — 9 years ago
Very solid Syrah. Had it first at Sushi Ran. Easy to buy from the vineyard and worth it. — 10 years ago
