Corison

Domaine William Fèvre

Champs Royaux Chablis Chardonnay 2014

If it's good enough for Cathy Corison, it's good enough for me. Nothing earth shattering; everything enjoyable. Flint, acid, oyster shell - pale goodness. — 9 years ago

Spring Mountain District Meritage Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1995

Showing signs of oxidization, but underneath fig and bruised-apple aromas, the nose has a rich and secondary nose of dark black raspberries, cedar, tobacco, dried cherries, and a tinge of cumin. In the mouth, it resembles a printed canvas of dark fruit, leather, cedar, tobacco, and savory tamari notes. There’s a nice texture to the midpalate flavors. It is gorgeously balanced, medium bodied, with lively acidity, still some tannic grip - though refined, and a satisfying length.

This is a wine of substance, at an extremely interesting and delicious point in its life, available for an absolutely ridiculous price. Thanks
@Alder Yarrow for the recommendation! (The winemaker is Cathy Corison).

Made by Cathy Corison! This was insanely fresh. Ripe black fruit and tons of savory (good) vegetal secondaries, plus really deft oak. Goddamn, old California Cab is the best thing ever. — 11 years ago

Long Vineyards

Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

My wife and I have no idea how this came into our cellar, or anything about Long Vineyards really. But man, this is a beautiful Napa Cabernet, very much in the style of @Cathy Corison and White Rock Vineyards. The 22 months in new French has completely integrated after 14 years, and now it is redolent (first time using that word) with cassis, black olive tapenade, dried herbs, and fine, dusty tannins.

When we grill steaks, this is the type of old-school California we really dig.

Get this. Wonderful balance. It's about to release. If you love Corison style, great red and dark fruits without being over ripe, you'll love this. Seamless tannins from grape to oak, good acidity. I tried after it was open for a day. — 10 years ago

The Colonel's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Wow. Just wow. Pure, savory, elegant. Clear pencil shavings and cassis and mint with nearly integrated oak that's subtle but certainly there. This is really damned good. Only thing I've had that's close this year from California was a 25yr vertical of Corison. — 9 years ago
